Thinking of Buying a Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Diesel! - Stavros969

So the search continues for a replacement car, as my Honda Civic Type R just has to go hopefully. So i decided to take a trip to Western Garages Volkswagen in Ennis Co. Clare to test drive a Mk7 Volkswagen Golf Diesel. Could it be my next car?

I got a 2015 Jetta se TDI and I love it. It's the 2.0l 150hp one with the dsg dual clutch automatic. It's the best car I've ever owned. 54mpg average highway

christ, I didn't realise they made them in such a low trim. Just seen the price, are car prices ridiculously high over there? Makes sense as to why they sell such a low spec now. I've got a 2014 Golf SE with the 1.6 turbo diesel, so mine has the cruise control, all electric windows, reversing camera, heated electric folding mirrors, auto lights and wipers, etc, and mine was only £10,000, or $11400.

To be honest, l would like you to get the spec above, because it adds so much more, such as bluetooth. But that's just my opinion.

I have it the same is the fuel pump it is priming the system when you put keyboard or open the bonnet

Retrofitting cruise control can be done, but there's enough spec missing from that that unless you've nothing better to do with your time, buying a better specced one makes more sense than pulling it apart to fit all the bits you want. Adaptive cruise control should be available in higher specced versions of the golf, so I'd go looking for that if I was buying something that recent, but it does need the DSG box to be completely seamless. The 90 bhp engine isn't enough power unless you like being stuck behind the people who drive intercity roads way under the speed limit (Except for the 50 zones, which they also do 70 km/h through), collecting their own traffic jam as they go, every time you're not driving motorway/dual carriageway.

Could probably get an octavia vRS for that price, it's basically the same car just slightly larger and roomier, and the diesel has 180 hp while the gasoline one 217 hp and is pretty much fully loaded compared to this poverty spec golf :/

octavia is roomier and cheaper thats for sure but thats about it. many parts in interior are of higher quality in the golf, the ride is much more comfortable, sound insulation is night and day.

Have owned both (though the Octy was a 1.4 not a vRS) and i can confirm that the interioir is pretty much identical, all the switchgear, buttons stalks they are all the same, the sound system and headunit are identical (the only difference being the color palette of the UI, sound insulation is identical too, although the octavia had slightly more tire roar (probably because it had bigger wheels), the only thing missing in the octy was the felt lined door pockets. As for comfort, yeah the Golf is slightly more comfortable, but the octavia was a lot more fun to drive due to the stiffer suspension, so i preferred that! Kinda ironic how a supposedly "cheaper" version of a car is actually better in many ways.

1. All interior parts you mentioned are the same including for the Passat, Leon, Superb etc. But thats not what makes all of the interior. Lower bottom plastics are of obviously lower quality in octavia vs golf, switching gears (in manual gearbox) in golf is much much different and more mechanical and precise, steering is more direct, there is no sound insulation material in the octavia under the good (in golf is standard even in trendline), no insulation material where the spare wheel is (in golf is standard) in octavia metal, the carpet material is of a lower quality in the luggage compartment, the plastics where the cup holders are and electric handbrake are very very different in both cars. Closing the doors is much more refined in the golf where in the octavia is honestly not as. In terms of build quality, insulation and materials you can compare the golf and the superb even though they are two different classes of cars.

Hello and sorry for my english. I have bought a used vw golf 7 1.6 tdi 105hp 2014 model. The last 5 days i am hearing a sound like liquid is running through pipes in the dashboard. Also i hear the sound before i start the engine (for 30sec), as i drive (all the time i am driving) and when i turn off the car again for 30sec. Do you have any idea or any solution for that please; Thank you.

If your going golf mk 7 go for a highline or better ex UK match much better spec . That's far to basic and dull for that money. I'd say go for a black golf match .

@@haydenmoore7324 I still didn't buy it, I will soon tho. well by documentation, it cosumes around 3.5L/100km, so you can expect maybe 5-6L/100km in city. So with 50L tank, you can have it for like 700-900 kilometeres, depending of road type (uphils..), is your AC on/off etc..

No No No Stav ! Worst colour on the road !! Dont know what they were thinking when the vag group brought that shade out !! lol. They are a decent car, but you pay well over the odds just for having that badge. ive been driving VAG group cars for 20 years, all Seat range. And I swear by them. But I would seriously consider taking a Seat Leon out for a test. Basically a Golf bar the shell. Although they look better in my opinion, and you will get a higher spec for less money compared to similar VW. nice vid as always buddy :)

No worries matey, although a same engined seat is usually slightly easier to insure over its VW counterpart ( at least up North it is ? ) i run a Seat Altea FR for a good bit less insurance wise than its VW equivalent cousin. There really is no spec at all in that golf. No bluetooth, no steering wheel controls, no cruise control, wind up windows in the back, no front fogs or alloys. Very very low spec. Yes you will save money on insurance, tax and fuel costs but the maintenance costs on modern diesel cars are huge. Injectors, egr, dpf, dual mass flywheel all of these things fail on modern diesel cars and all are expensive repairs. Just some things to think about Stavros.

Andreas Määrits I've had more than a few Toyota's, ever since this Mk7 was launched i've had a soft spot for it, who knows. Depends what i'll be offered for the Type R.
