For the broke teacher with the financially successful wife: I'm 41 and worked food for fifteen years and switched to manufacturing, being a machinist. I got a wife who got her master's from Yale (I have to brag about that because she's too humble) and I felt the same way. If you really can't accept being in your current situation, go back to school for computer programming or something, even take one class, and move towards a more profitable job. I'm about to get my associates in mechanical engineering and used my ability to write and bullshit to get a scholarship to get the bachelor's. I'm not bragging, I'm dumb as shit, but having a wife who can pay her way makes it possible to better yourself, she'll be proud of you for doing it. If an old dude like me can do it, so can you, corny but true.
