Weather! Tell people when the "right day" and the "wrong day" to go fishing is ;) You'd be shocked by the number of people that do not understand how the weather affects the bite! I hear people talk about pressured lakes, FFS, bait casting techniques, which bait to fish when, BUT I can't recall any of those channels having a comprehensive explanation of how the weather affects the bite. Lunar cycles, barometric pressure, cloud cover, sudden temp changes, all of these variables drastically change a fish's behavior pre and post spawn. These factors are the reason we throw certain baits during certain times of the year. My closest lake is behind me in my pic and has 10,000 acres of water surface with 116 miles of shoreline. The average depth is 70-feet and the deepest point is 260=feet deep. July is the month with the highest water temperature at 88.3°F / 31.3°C. The month with the lowest is January with an average water temperature of 48°F / 8.9°C. The avg. air temperature is around 91.8°F / 33.2°C, July is the month with the highest temperature. December is the coolest with 50.7°F / 10.4°C average air temperature. Going fishing on "the wrong day" and the "right day" at my lake are as different as night and day to a catfish.

The "right" day to go fishing is any day you can get to the lake and not risk your life due to the conditions.

When shad are everywhere I guess they are one part of the equation that is less important compared to if they were in specific places. ?????? I want to say this is info I have to hear over again because it is a lot to think on. Keep it up Thanks

Here's a video I made on the Fish the Moment channel about how to find bass when there are shad everywhere in your lake: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZCylpaKm954aZY

You said something about Navionics not working out so well anymore. I am due to renew Navionics on my phone. I’ve also been considering a different mapping system on my boat. I presently have hummingbird electronics. What would you suggest I take a closer look at before renewing?

I’m curious about the same. I have navionics on my phone but was looking for something possibly better

The Humminbird FishSmart app has great HD maps on some lakes, but you need to buy each lake separately and it can get expensive. The Lowrance app has good maps as well in certain regions of the country. I would do a free trial of the Lowrance app and see if you like the maps in your area. Make sure to select the HDR setting for 1ft contours

Do you know of any online topo maps that will give 1’ or 2’ contours on land? I’m wanting to map out my farms elevations.

www.usgs.gov/programs/national-geospatial-program/us-topo-maps-america Not sure if this will work, but I also know some states have LIDAR maps with 1ft land contours available if you look online

In other words, natural lake are the hardest to pattern.
