I am beyond excited to finally upload something that I've not only been working on for months but something that I've been personally interested in creating since I became a vidder. The older I get, the more able I am to understand Harry Potter on a deeper level and the tragedy of the Marauders, the sacrifices they made at such a young age, and the fact that they never got to live their own happy lives but made it possible for others to live safely and happily is just...it will haunt me until I die.
For particular reasons, I did not include Pettigrew. First, because I've never connected with any popular fancast and secondly because I genuinely cannot stand him and I'd rather just not have to include him with the rest of my kids. I debated on dabbling with the entire wizarding war aspect of this era (i.e. putting more young Death Eaters and exploring the duality of the sides) but as I went through my footage, I found the concept of focusing on James, Sirius, Remus, Lily, and Snape and their time at Hogwarts to be more appealing.
Finally, I would have to say that although I'm not 100% sold on this casting (Aneurin is my dream James and always will be) I am just completely happy with the idea of any of these actors playing these characters.
I was VERY inspired by fakescottishaccent's many marauders videos and they have emotionally and spiritually crippled me since i first discovered her talent but I continue to be blown away by this particular one and I have to shout it out to those who have never seen it: • the marauders I darkness

Ok: The opening shots that you used to set up the story (because you have ofc with your talent told a story in 4 and a half minutes) are so beautiful and poignant stop. And then how you introduced James and Remus and Sirius with the shots of something that defines them. Was that a small hint of the possible Remus/Lily love story at the start because IM BYE??? The way you showed that constant threat of death and war with all the shots of like the destroyed tents and the dark mark ofc The happy stuff THE HAPPY STUFF KILL ME HANNAH WHY DON'T YOU FUCKIN DIE Then the shots of them at the platform and especially Sirius and Remus faces, the two who truly loved Hogwarts the most because it was their scape from their miserable home lives and the hint of something new and fresh THE JAMES AND LILY BEING CUTE AND HAVING FUN STUFF NO THANKS DEVIL (also i want to mention the fucking use of cinematography not just from the HP films but out with them and making it all fee like it belongs) And then, THEN, the frantic build up with the repeated "dawn is coming open your eyes" like they're still in the dark and need to open their eyes to it and just how you show the events of that fateful halloween night (that scream is going to haunt me forever i hate you for it). I already shouted at you for 3:34 and how it cuts to black with Lily and Voldemort so I hope you've thought about the consequences of your actions tbh cause that was rude as fuck SIRUS AT THIER GRAVE FUCK YOU IM FUCKING CRYING I HATE YOU FOR DOING THIS TO ME And then that ending, Harry literally being the dawn, the goodness that came out of all that darkness and tragedy and made all the suffering more bearable I'm actually a mess tbh right now Hannah I need a moment (or a month) to recover. Also, I love that constant ticking in the background of the song especially at the start like it's ticking down to something (aka pain) and then how it ends with that as well, ticking down again but this time we know it ends happily (but that is just something I think is cool and ties this video beautifully) This is perfect, you achieved your goal of killing me, well done, i hate you

so this fancast is nothing like mine but it's fucking perfection because it's YOURS and you fucking own it in a way that i haven't seen??? like this is beyond vidding to me, this is art. the way you created an atmosphere with all the shots of hogwarts interspersed with the shots of the actors was breathtaking to me, i could just watch this on loop forever. i am obsessed with the shots of things and how you used it to introduce the characters (james quidditch award, the weeping willow, the map etc). THE SHOT OF SNAPE IN THE CORRIDOR at :39 for some reason left me really shook???? The transition at 0:54 is fucking stunning. literally cannot get over some of these manips like????? the james lily part at 1:36 was so pure and beautiful my babies!!!!!!! and all of them boarding the train like!?!?!?!? seriously your manips are spectacular. The way you use cinematography of both the HP films and other movies is so wonderful, i am truly just blown away by it. and the way you transition into the start of the war with voldemort and the marauders all in pain (that scream at 3:04 WHO HURT YOU). and the cut to black with lily and voldemort honestly i am in fucking agony over this JUST COMPLETELY OVERWHELMED I HATE. and then sirius at james and lily’s grave…..i’m gonna need you to delete your account. THAT ENDING THO THAT GODDAMN ENDING. with it all coming full circle and harry being the product of all that they endured, harry being the reason it wasn’t all in vain. you know how much i agree with you on the marauders and you just showed all the joy and sorrow and love and everything that makes us drawn to them in one glorious moving piece of art. i know i’m always yelling at you but i mean this from the bottom of my heart, thank you for doing them complete justice. i love you and fuck you.

So, I don't usually comment on videos but this one really got to me. I think it's because first of all, ever since the Secret Life of Walter Mitty came out, this has been one of my favorite songs of all time. It's just so comforting to me and makes me feel warm inside, as does the Harry Potter series. Also, the Marauders era is just amazing and deserves its own movie or miniseries (I'm still a little salty we got Fantastic Beasts instead of the Marauders as a spinoff, but whatever) Anyway! I really love the way you combined fancasted clips with footage from the movies; it's virtually seamless and makes it all feel like one cohesive piece instead of a movie collage. I'm not usually a fan of clips set to music without voiceovers, but your video is definitely an exception because the way you edited and arranged the clips tells the story almost completely wordlessly and that in itself is a really huge feat to accomplish in my opinion. Some of my casting is different (I've always had Ben Barnes as Sirius too though, because god damn. :P), but I always love seeing other people's fancasts and yours is so good! I love your James. You explored relationships people often overlook too--Lily and Remus' friendship is so lovely and it's always interesting to see how people envision Snape and Lily interacting. Anyway, sorry this is so long and rambling! Basically this comment is one huge compliment because you deserve it. All in all this video just feels like coming home (although Sirius looking at the grave did rip my heart out, it's fine I'm fine I'm totally fine everything is a-ok). I also just want to add that I LOVE the video you linked to in your description. Like, I watch it all the time because it's absolutely flawless.
