Spectre Divide has received a lot of (what I believe to be) unwarranted hate since launch. Today, I discuss some pain points I feel while watching a great game get "bood" from the sidelines. Leave a like and subscribe, enjoy the video.

One of my best friends has around 7k hours of CSGO and after he tried this game, he said, this is the best thing to come out after sliced bread. Valorant fanboys need to chill. This game is so good it has gotten the attention of COD players, CSGO, R6 SIEGE and even VALORANT players themselves. I do not remember seeing any other game pulling this off. For games that are free to play yes, for games that you pay to play no. Why? Because it speaks for itself, you paying money to play. If I were to get a phone and not allowed to give my 2 cents about it until 1 year of owning it has passed then that would be stupid. I agree on this for free to play, cause anyone can just add it to their library and post a review. Easy to automate review bombing.

Played CS for almost 2k hours, valorant for almost 1.5k hours, and Spectre Divide for about slightly less than 30 hours; NO. This is a different game. Shooting mechanics are different, reliance on RNG are different. Well yes you get the same game mode as all three of those (heck, you can even play Siege if that's you want). I enjoy spectre because of mostly 3 things: 1. No more earthquakes, laser beam from the sky, a freaking bazooka, none of those. Mountaintop clearly stated you cannot have Ultimates in this game. Great approach. 2. Lesser reliance on teammates, which is something I am looking for in an online FPS for a very long time. Heck, I can trade myself. 3. Lesser RNG, and have a clear choice when to use what. If you want to peek faster, but care less about first-shot accuracy, go for hipfire. You want sustained spray with predictable pattern? Go for ADS. TL:DR, more shooting, less complaining on RNG. Edit: I don't have to stop while shooting! You might have different opinion than mine if one is better than the other but I don't care. I play Spectre because I enjoy it.

It's so funny how people are crying that valorant is stale and boring but when another game comes to spice it up they talk about val like its godsent. I play both and they have a pretty large amount of transferable skills but the life of it is different. This is literally everything val players say they want: new maps, new abilities, new gamemode, new twist to spice it up, but at their core they're all just haters, hating on both games. And for the hardcore valorant players, competition is always good. If this game succeeds it'll push riot to finally do something so everyone doesn't switch over. A new agent and a new map every 6 months doesn't cut it anymore. This game adds an amazing twist with the duality, is very polished and controls great, the abilities are strong but they never take away from the gunplay, and I personally think the balance is great. It's fun, it's intense, and you can express a lot of skill and be rewarded for it. I'll still visit valorant when new agents and maps come out, but this game stole my heart when it comes to tactical shooters.

I've been playing since the *very* early playtests and it has absolutely ruined every other shooter for me. I uninstalled both Val and CS as soon as they announced the release date, and there hasn't been a single day where I've been tempted to reinstall. I've also had access to Deadlock for months, and I'd choose Spectre over that any day. Sure, it has a bigger playerbase, but when you're only in alpha and you're already coming across toxicity every second game, that's enough to show exactly what kind of game it's going to turn into. Not something I'm interested in. I'll play Spectre until it dies. Hopefully it doesn't. They made a great game and deserve more recognition and grace than what they're getting right now.

Literary from my first second I was like damn it feels different. The maps are completely different and the way you play the game is completely different . Overall the game needs to get morr polished but for me personally I get a Superior feeling when getting a frag in this game than any other shooter i ve played. By that I just mean it feels good. I know you weren't the biggest fan of Concord, but I appreciate you were one of the few people who actually thought for themselves and gave the game of fair shot while offering valid criticisms. The fact that this game which I think is also pretty good sadly has a chance to fail because of all the negativity online really has shown me, that as a whole gamers are insufferable manchildren. You simply cannot please a gamer; with concord, gamers rightly complained about how free to play as a model is ruining the industry and then a competent long ttk multiplayer shooter with practically no technical issues at launch comes out for a below average price of 40 dollars and then they whine that is not free. And the same issues apply with specter divide; albeit for different reasons.

I completely agree, but remember that this exact series of events played out for valorant when it came out in beta. everyone said, oh its just a csgo clone, they're just copying cs, blah blah blah. The only similarities between these three games (CS, Val, Spectre) is that they're first person tac shooters. And even though they are the same general genre of game, all three play completely differently and have their own flow. So im not exactly worried about spectre failing because of this. the only thing that scares me is that mountain is an independent dev studio which could mix badly with the negative reviews and make the game fail, mountaintop is not Riot ya know. But I think that is offset by the fact that shroud is not only endorsing the game but is one of the brainstormers behind the scenes, and that makes me pretty sure that we'll be playing this game for years and years after this point. Keep bringing more eyes to this game man! The bigger it gets the more fun it'll be and i can't wait for the future of this game.
@johnex2154

I've played all three extensively and while cs will always be the king of raw gunplay, I think this game strikes the perfect balance of abilities/utilities. I feel like valorant is way too ability heavy which makes for a more casual setting, and if that's your thing by all means go ahead, but spectre just has such a balanced experience where the abilities really elevate the gunplay. Duality aside, I think that's where this game really excels compared to the other two, and you really don't know it till you've sunken some time. I played csgo for years but decided to drop it for valorant because I wanted something to spice it up, and abilities were that. It wasn't as sweaty and the game didn't take itself as serious, which was a nice mix up. Now I'm in the same spot of mostly dropping valorant for spectre because just like csgo, there isn't much keeping valorant fresh. This is a natural evolution in the gaming world and it's hard to change valorant in any meaningful way without dismembering the pro scene and making the whole community flip out. I love what league did with the recent seasons, changing things up a lot, and while everyone panicked, they adapted and welcomed the drastic changes as a good thing. I don't know if that's possible with valorant but I'm betting it will bring back all the players who've already worn out the game. Till that happens Ill be grinding spectre!

I appreciate the passion, but my man, going the route "If the game fails it's the gamers fault" it's a slippery slope. That's what Disney is doing when they claim the audience don't go watch their movies and it's the audience's fault. When a product fails is never the customer fault, it's the product fault. It either failed to capture the audience interest with a good narrative or to innovate enough to distinguish themselves from the competitors. With 800 concurrent players and 3500 peak players on Steam, seems to me that Spectre Divide falls in one or both of these categories. It might be a good game but in a saturated market it probably isn't good or different enough to set itself apart and capture an audience. If the game is good and resonate with players, players will come, if they don't come, it's not their fault, it's the game's fault.

Blaming gamers here is false, it's rather certain players within the gamer community. Specifically, CSGO and Valorant players are mainly the ones I see don't find the game good. Now, not saying every CS or Valo player is like that, I've read the comments here and there is decent number of them who like the game. But you will have the avg. CS and Valo player complaining. CS players are the ones who complain about the gameplay the most while Valo players complain about the store pricing for skins the most (not surprised since they love buying dragon skins). I never played either games and find the game fun and good, it has kinks to work out but it is expect for a game like this for taking its own spin on this genre of shooter. Concorde failure was mostly its own fault, it was advertise as a Hero shooter when it played and felt like a CoD game. Not to mention $40 to play compare to free to play model most hero shooters are these days. As for the "woke", Overwatch tried to add LGBT to their game but most people just didn't care or forgot, not many people know but Soldier 76 is gay (was revealed in some short novel that was posted on twitter) and Tracer is a lesbian (this I think a few people know). We can't also blame ourselves as gamers cause games recently just been bad, mainly Ubisoft games and other big AAA studios/publishers. The market has fully outed masculine games from 2000s, I am not saying non-masculines arent welcome but they shouldn't let to the complete removal of masculine games. As of now Space marine 2 is one of the few masculine games left. We of course gonna get new Doom and Gears of War, but it will be awhile till they release and knowing Microsoft it might get delayed. I will end of saying this, you have the right to disagree certain parts of this statement or the entire statement. But please share your opinion and thoughts in a civil manner. I don't want to cause a trash talk fight in the replies, calling each other swear words and etc. Do expect others and maybe me to not fully agree on what you say. Remember we all gamers here in the end we all enjoy playing games.

Everything said I agree with, except when it came to the microtransactions. In the first place comparing the cosmetic prices of spectre divide to valorant is bad, valorant is overly expensive and greedy but people are fine about that because it is produced as a AAA game from a massive corporation (RIOT) where abnormal greed is to be expected. Spectre divide however is an indie game and isn't backed by a massive company, their prices shouldn't be anywhere near the greedy ask that AAA companies have. In the first place, valortant is a game that sets itself apart from other big corporations with their monetization greed so its a shit thing to compare an indie games monetization policy to one of if not worst monetization greed to ever exist - Valorant. Spectre divide did not have the advertisement and production costs that valorant had and so it is reasonably expected that it wont be as popular, looking at the current active player size for the two games you can see how big valorant is in comparison. A smaller game should never adopt the monetization policies of a massive game.

The fact that you enjoy your first FPS game is great but there are plenty of people who are looking for a good FPS game because lthey are so tired of greedy uncooked games like Valorant, CS2, and now Spectre Divide. The game is terrible, from sound distance to damage, hit registration, desync of bullets while spray and so much more, add the fact that none asked for a 3v3 which is actual 6v6 game, and there you are, a game that nobody needed and it works really bad. They are greedy, this game will die if they will not fix it asap imo.

I truly sometimes wonder, what kind of game REALLY satisfy people like you, that like to complain 24/7 These problems are such common problems that so many multiplayer games face on release, that always need to be tested on a bigger scale of con-current players in order to be acknowledge and fix. You are pointing bugs and saying the game is bad...? It's like saying your theatre have shitty screen, therefore the movie is shit. Your opinion on 3v3 or 6v6 is your own, you don't need it, but plenty people do. (i hate soccer, therefore nobody like soccer - sounds stupid?). I can go further into game designing details to explain why people would want 3v3 but actually 6v6 feature (hate on 1-death per round games, but a respawn? count me in, etc)

@@unable5523People work on skins are in a COMPLETELY different team with bugs and infrastructure fixing team. So, because of the game has bugs, people work on skins aren't allowed to publish or release its contents? So how do you make money to keep on working...? And bugs happen AFTER, i repeat, AFTER, getting players to play it. So they can only start working on it AFTER bugs are presented. Plus, these bugs are all networking bugs, that can ONLY monitor with bigger player based. But SKINS, in other hands, belong to different team that work months/years prior to the release of the game. How hard is it to understand these BASIC things as an average person.

I have over 10K hours on CSGO and around 6K hours in Valorant. I have played in high lobbies of both. Spectre Divide felt like a breath of fresh air. It has a completely different shooting and movement mechanism from CS or Val. If anything Val is more like CS than spectre is like Val (if at all). Let’s not let toxic communities ruin what we love.

I think the reason people liken it to Valorant so much is because the UI is VERY similar (exactly the same in some areas). If the UI was more original, Spectre Divide's unique gameplay and art style would be front and center when comparing it to other tac shooters.

The most unintuitive thing to me about internet was always that hundreds or thousands of people could be talking complete bullshit. Steam forums among other things made me learn that. I'm all up for criticism but logic and attitude of some people hurts my brain. MHW is being called dead all the time despite having 20k active players daily, more than the new one at least on steam. It's like twitter but with gamers that despite years of experience don't know anything about games.

I feel like some players don't know that you can upgrade the skins just by playing and have the skin of your choice as you active endorsement. I just saw just steam review where they're complaining that this game have the same currency for buying and upgrading unlike in Valorant where the currency is separated and buying the upgrading currency is dummy expensive.

100% AGREE, this game is super unique and people don't want to give it a chance at all. Nearly everyone I've spoken to just doesn't wanna bother with a new game with all the knockoffs nowadays and just chalking it up to being a VAL copy which is insane. Such unique gunplay, concepts and opportunities to create new strats that you simply can't in any other game. You can throw a smoke and TP inside it as it pops, that instantly opens up the skill gap possible by so much needing to be aware constantly of both characters position in the map along with how many different features you have like that smoke TP Another thing people seem to forget: This game runs freaking amazing. I'd say 10x better than how CS2's pile of garbage makes you lag constantly. Art style is not intensive at all on machine and makes the game infinitely more enjoyable

The 2 games have nothing in common exept for the genre and this death report in the right after u get killed. Gamers just love to hate, and if there is nothing to hate they will find something and then hate it.

I think people (like me) who default back to valorant do so because they dont want to suffer through the skill gap from beginner to competent beginner. Starting spectre divide reminded me of my life in valorant's Iron rank. Unlike other games though, i really love this game as a first impression. I love the customisation of characters in spectre divide and would love more if possible. Im struggling to get used to the SLOW pace in each round. I love the tactics, but you have to walk everywhere because of spectres so the gameplay is slower to execute. It takes a lot of mental energy, which can drain from the excitement of first loading in (but im going to assume that this is something i need to learn better)

FINALLY seeing someone address this issue! I’ve been saying all the same shit you have, it’s been so annoying to see people shoot the game down when they don’t know anything about it. As someone who played Valorant for four years, the game is stale and no longer fun. The community is toxic and grinding ranked in that game isn’t worth the time or effort anymore. When specter divide was announced I was BEYOND excited. It was a fresh and new concept, and way less middle man in the game play- its one of the most anticipated and unique games I’ve seen in a long time. I hate that the Valorant community has been so harsh towards the game considering they got the same treatment when Valorant came out. These people literally WATCH a video for a few minutes and make their decision based off of someone else’s gameplay- like you mentioned not even playing for more than a couple hours. I’m hoping and praying that this game will continue to grain POSITIVE traction and get the rep it deserves, the game just came out after all. No game will be perfect on launch but at least this company listens to its community (cough cough riot taking FOUR years to start fixing the toxicity in their community) thanks for speaking out on the topic! It was very much needed.

75%, the hate is coming from CS and Valorant veterans. They don't want to learn a new game that could compete with their baby. There is however some issues with the game. Pros: Style, Gunplay, movement, tech, balanced abilities. 1.) The game is lacking ambience and focus on sound design. I feel alone sometimes even when im in a discord call with two others. For example, you can understand you are playing Dust II in CS2 just be the noise. They have at least now added an "Ace" sound trigger which helps at least at the end of the round. 2.) Maps. This is subjective, but I just don't vibe with the design of 'metal box here', 'higher metal box here' method. I like more grounded textures that are closure to reality than this. On top of this, each map does not vary enough in vibe and design for them to be memorable. 3.) Character design. I was shocked about how ugly the characters looked, but once I saw there was customization I was hyped. The basic customization it offers however does not allow enough to counter it.

I'd say that the skins for Spectre are a fair bit better than Val skins, sure they might not have a finisher effect (what happens to the corpse), but you don't have to spend a fortune to get those finishers with an additional currency.

One thing I think is going on is other games/devs/employees start the trash talk to get you to have a bad opinion of a game. Now I do not think this is all the hate but it definitely happens. BUTTT most the hate come from the first game that everyone plays in spectre divide. It is a lot to take in, so why jump into another tac shooter when you already scratch that itch in a simpler game you've already played. This game is for people that don't wanna stand and shoot, have a little more complexity in the game (WITHOUT ROCKETS as an ultimate), and might just wanna fresh take on a fps. It is NOT going to get the love from everyone that already has there favorite tac shooter. CS:GO players hate Val for the abilities and the animations/textures , now the Val players are doing the exact same same to Spectre. I hope it grows enough to stay around because I too highly enjoy this game. Keep posting videos of it!!! 👽

Ive been really enjoying the game, even gave tons of feedback to help improve the gameplay. The one thing that peeves me are skin bundles costing as much as a full game when its just 15% part of the game, just make it make sense?!? Especially for 6/10 skins. And from a business stand point $50 would be appropriate bc it become more accessible, Especially since a lot of people who get f2p games generally dont have the money to drop 60+ at the very least.

I have like 20 hours in spectre divide now and Im coming from 1,2k hours CSGO and 1k hours valorant My muscle memory has actually problems not spraying or just actually abusing the run and gun system. The gunplay feels nice, sometimes a bit off but that's in every tac shooter I feel like. For me personally the only complaint is that if you are holding long-range angles and you can't even see what gun your opponent is holding and then you get insta killed by the AWP/OP equivalent (sorry don't know the name right now) I wish the stance of somebody holding the sniper could be a little bit more obvious so that I don't assume I can win those fights

I really enjoyed the game's mechanics and found it to be quite engaging, but I have to say, the pricing on skins is a bit of a letdown. To put it in perspective, Valorant’s Prime bundle, priced at $70, comes with unique reload animations, firing VFX, and a finisher, which adds great value. In contrast, the first bundle in Spectre Divide is priced at $90 and offers reload animations similar to Valorant's Prime bundle but lacks a finisher. Given these factors, even the discounted price of $70 doesn’t seem justified for this bundle.

It's not 70 bucks bundle why people are unsatisfied. I personally am someone who has spent thousands of dollars on weapon skins across various games . At one point my csgo inventory was about 5k usd . The problem here is the game itself isn't worth spending any money on and hear me out why This game simply doesn't have the gun mechanics of either cs/pubg or even Valorant level neither does it have advanced movement like cod . 16 years back cod4 promod became the 2nd biggest pc esports game for the fps genre after cs 1.6 . Go check out some videos how insane it was . Even after 1.5 decades later this spectre feels like light years behind that game . Its sad how a community made mod was so ahead of its time and even with so much technology people simply cannot even recreate it . Strafe jumping ,pre nading line ups ,combat while leaning entry fragging and the list goes on

I could make a video and say "If Spectre Divide succeeds, gamers are the problem", do you not realize how problematic that is? Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. You cant claim that its "gamers" fault because you happen to enjoy the game and they don't? The hell? The game already lost 15k of its playerbase after a week or so. It is CLEAR that this game was never going to break the market because of how unoriginal it is. You can't hate an entire community for not wanting to play your favorite game, and you most certainly cannot hate on people providing fair criticism.
