I finally understand the true meaning of the quote : "All roads lead to Rome." To me, it means that no matter the path you take in life, every journey ultimately leads you to your true, authentic self. I found my Rome within me, and in doing so, I found you, my partner for life. With you by my side, Rome becomes even more beautiful every day. Now, we're exploring new roads together, and as long as Rome lives in our hearts, we'll always feel home and find our way in this lifetime. I love you ❤

I loved this episode!! I could relate to it so much. I eat, dream, daydream, read novels set in Italy, watch Italian news - everything Italy! Went on my first trip, starting in the Eternal City, in 2018 & hope to go back in 2026. Rome (and some other cities) made me cry with joy at realising my dreams had come true & seeing some of the most breathtaking sights in my entire life. Thank you for sharing - I will watch it again tonight 😍

Do you have a video that talks about what type of visa you needed to get to live in Italy, and the process of getting it?
@StayFabulousTL15 күн бұрын
There are many different visa types, so it all depends on your specific situation. I know a lot of people recently applied for a new digital nomad visa that went into effect recently.

To be honest, it depends on a lot of factors. One is that I moved to the U.S. in my teens so I naturally made friends throughout high school, college, work, etc. I moved to Italy in my 30s and worked for myself so it was a different experience when it came to making friends. In the U.S. most of the time it happened naturally while in Italy I actually had to work on it. But overall (and again, this is just my personal experience) people in the U.S. are more open to accepting new friends than people in Italy.

What a dream! I am a bridal makeup artist based in Seattle, WA in the U.S. and it would be such a dream to live in Italy and live my makeup artist dreams there! I am curious to know how much money it would take to move to Italy. How did you figure out finances, visa, etc?
@StayFabulousTL16 күн бұрын
Oh, you can absolutely make it happen! Italy hosts countless destination weddings and weddings in general from Lake Como to Amalfi. When it comes to budget, it really depends on where in Italy you’d like to settle. I’d recommend starting by narrowing down your preferred location. For me, it was always Rome✨As for visas, there are several options available depending on your personal circumstances. The one I recommend exploring is the Italian digital nomad visa- based on what you shared, it could be the perfect fit for your plans!😉

What does it take yo move to Italy? I mean like money wise? I am 62 and have a pension & a full time job for the federal government. I want to live in Italy so bad. I am obsessed with Italy. I will even leave my 5 children and 12 grandchildren!
@StayFabulousTL17 күн бұрын
It depends on a lot of factors - which part of Italy ( for example, living in Milan is much more expensive than let’s say in a small town in Sicily), your lifestyle, etc. I would narrow it down as much as possible. I knew that I wanted to live in Rome, specifically in the historic center, so I moved with these details in mind.
@trattogatto16 күн бұрын
On average, North Italy is more expensive than South Italy, but with a lot of exceptions. Rural areas are cheaper than cities, so, if you live in a small town in the rural area of Rovigo the cost of living is pretty much the same of other places in the south of Italy. But being in the Veneto region, in my opinion, you have the benefit to be closer to some more developed cities, better infrastructures and services, hospitals, etc... you just drive less than 1 hour and you are good for anything you need. Then the historic centers are expensive, I would avoid them and the big cities in general (if you can drive). Also because the cities declined in the last years, they are dirty, full of thugs and illegal immigrants, and dangerous (at least this is what happened to Padova, I live in the "provincia" (suburbs) that is cleaner and more conservative, and I really avoid the center). Anyway Italy is not like in the USA. In your country you have vast empty territories between cities, you drive like crazy for hours, or you fly. Then everything is corporate, you have big very developed cities, and abandoned very poor towns, you have Walmart/Target and some restaurant chains providing your food and goods. Our economy is different, more distributed, we have family owned businesses, we eat fresh bread, fresh vegetables, and we have highly connected small towns... I don't know if what I say makes sense to you. For example, I live in the Veneto region, my house is 30 minutes from Padova and 1 hour from Venice (driving). This is a rural area, I live in a town of 6000 inhabitants, surrounded by other towns with almost the same number of population (6k to 20k inhabitants). In every town we have a town hall, local police, everything we need to survive (schools, shops, bars and restaurants, and at least one church), in short: little self sufficient communities (almost). We still have a direct connection with Padova, and have a good infrastructures, public transports, public health, services, and some shopping center. Therefore, our quality of life has high standards even if we live in "rural" towns. Not all regions are the same, going south of Padova (Este), and in the province of Rovigo, the rural places are a bit less developed and less connected. And if you go in Tuscany or the Emilia Romagna, even less. Perhaps it is impossible to describe our geography, and how we live, you need to experience it.

You need to be rich to come here or not poor and work from home (since you can save money not living in a city if you work from home, but before buying a house you need to know if there is a working internet connection/its infrastructure, since in some places there isn't/it's too bad/even phones doesn't work well). As you said it's better to don't sign a contract without viewing in person the place, and I don't mean only the house, I mean also the place where it is located since cheap houses comes with compromises such bad/absent internet infrastructures, no hospitals or medical structures of any kind, no/low quantity of shops, neglected streets and buildings, no/few neighbors, sometimes criminal activities, and so on... If you are used to live in that nightmare prefabricated houses typical of USA, maybe coming here in a isolated place will be better, but you still have to fight to get internet and can order stuff online and work. It's a real problem not having access to internet here, because it's needed to get a appointments at the hospital and other things related to health and taxes. To be fair you are allowed to call specific numbers to ask for an appointment, but you may waste many days before talking to someone...
@futurekron16 күн бұрын
I found that when I lived in Italy, it was actually EASIER to connect with expats from other countries, and Italians, too. However, the sense of isolation is very real, and you need to go in with the ability to be "your own island" or so to speak. Italy has many strange things about it, and I HATED Milan, (and honestly, got sick of the food quickly). I recommend to my clients and friends who are considering retiring in a foreign country, the most important things are (1) have financial security (work/job) setg up before going in, (2) have secure housing set up, and (3) have an expat community nearby, because the language barrier will be frustrating at first, so you need people who speak your language who can give tips.
