A little trick to using that kind of fire starter is to slowly shave off and collect a little pile of dust from the rod without it sparking that way it really flares up when you finally do put a spark in it. If you do it right, you can start a fire with one strike.

This was a grate wonderful learning experience for you's. An to say I'd think you's knows, you're very strong person human being see how strong minded you can be. You done it that's wonderful grate video I've seen yet better one other one you had . This most thee best I've ever seen an thank You's. I'd would very much like see you's again doing this harder conditions using side of rock fromashtion as shelter finding to use make it more better much larger than two people's in it plus you an you son puppy 🐶 all in it front like a shade an a door way you want it good size bed made out all thing's you's fined to make it an table chair. Everything else hand made use as a knife, ax old ways of fishing hunting make them all old why's hand made to bow an arrows also a rope or ropes all hand made near we're you could rockfish fishing salt water an also fresh water places we're you's knows there's all of this an important not for hunting as well . To do all this for 14 day's. Why Why not see yourself doing it for yourself believe. I'd do believe that you's can would could do this without hope Fath there is no worth or work to see believe you're'self.

How about some sort of head to head survival challenge with teams? Maybe you could do it alone style and have a set list of items to choose from but because it is addicted give everyone a fishing pole but spice it up and have each team member only get 1 lure they have to make themselves before they challenge. You could do a KZbin poll to see who we think won. Maybe like a 3 day weekend or something

hold on just a minute. your gonna wait to do a more long term survival situation when the seasons get better so there is better forage? is that what you said? oh hell no. people in survival situations do not get to pick the " best times of the year" to end up in a bad situation. not get off your .......and get back out there and suffer. let me call Marlin. we will get this situation handled. smh. oh and hey Little. belly rubs to you.

Great video Jordan! Just two things I would advise on. First order of business is shelter fire then you can worry about food. That way you aren’t attempting to start a fire in the dark. Second if you used a thermal blanket on the roof and blocked the back of the shelter with the other one on top of some batches you’d be able to shoot the radiant heat from the fire directly onto yourself! A thin piece of plastic in the front would trap allow the heat it but not out! Just food for thought, again great video and love what you guys do with addicted!

Love your adventures Jordan! Heating up the sand and some rocks by building the fire where you sleep will do so much for keeping you warm through the night. Using the time to gather the wood and letting it burn while you gather your shelter materials, get water boiled, build the shelter as the fire gets low, then move the fire to just inside the entrance of your shelter. Stacking wood inside your shelter, off the ground, to dry while the fire burns will help too. Any thermal mass that can be used to hold heat and then supply heat is very good efficiency.

next time make the fire first, heat up some river rock, dig a trench where you're gonna sleep and throw the river rocks in there and cover it up...use the space blankets on the opposite side of the fire to reflect the heat...use a long willow branch for a fishing rod...I noticed there were blackberry bushes everywhere. Scavenge for food if possible. That looked miserable LOLL

Your buddy got four of the big five bushcraft tools = cutting, combustion, cover and container. Technically the line could count as cordage, but, like you said, it's light. Shelter first, water, fire and food second. TIP - get yourself UP off the ground. Leaves, pine/fir boughs - anything to get you off the ground, which sucks the heat out of your body. THEN put on the emergency blanket over it. Nice job with the fire, starting fires with wet wood in the rain is HARD. Make a fire reflector to direct the heat into your shelter. A lean to facing the fire would have kept more heat in. A hot cup of water might keep you warm too - just be sure to pee before bed! Snuggle the doggo! Brrr! Awesome video, Jordan!

Excellent video! I keep a fire rod, water filtration tube, cotton balls(for tinder), spool of 50 pound braid( many uses)and a small mirror for signaling aircraft in a small kit in my tackle. Knife, whistle, and tourniquet on my person ALWAYS! Small rain coat, and first aid kit also in tackle. (Better to have all this and not need it…..)

Good stuff. I’ve done some September nights in the Wyoming Range w just what’s in my pack (unplanned over night). Just a fire, some left over day food, and all the clothes you brought, on. Lay down, and hope a griz doesn’t wander in. It builds character. And makes you appreciate a warm bed. And a structure with bear proof walls. ;)

Also rocks around your fire will retain a lot of heat so you can get the most out of your fire even if it goes out. A couple hours of "cooking", and your rocks will be hot for hours after the fire goes out.

Getting the fire going out here with a flint is super a underrated skill! You could give most people a lighter and a quart of gas and they will not be able to get a fire going in the PNW winter. #BanSeaLions 😉

Awesome video! I'm a survivalist myself, so I have a few pointers. First keep in mind the rule of 3. 3 hours without shelter, so that's first thing to do, 3 days without water, second thing to find. That pot would be a good rain and snow catcher, set that out where there is alot of downfall, catch as much as possible, a well hydrated body will help keep you warm. 3 weeks without food, last thing to worry about, so don't. Especially if you know you're only out there for 24 hrs. Warmth and hydration are your best friends. That alone will keep you alive. And finally 3 seconds before a bad decision. Think for an extra 3 seconds, what would happen if my truck broke down, what would i need, and put an emergency survival kit together. I love these kinds of videos! Cheers!!!

Love your videos. But a miserable overnight camping trip isn't a survival situation. Do a real survival challenge man. At least a week or more. Where things like water and food actually become critical. With at least 10 to 15 survival items.

When I was in boy scouts I went on a Klondike winter trip.... I forgot my sleeping bag and tent all I had was a Carhartt jumpsuit and a space blanket so I decided to literally just lay on the ground curled up in my jumpsuit stuffed with the space blanket and I passed right out..... Slept like a baby all night, come to find out most of the adults couldn't even sleep. every tent had a layer of ice covered everything was literally ice cubes..... I remember people freaking out seeing me on the ground!!!! I literally popped out of that shit sweating, only wearing some athletic shorts acting like it was summer.

If you are in the right area... cut two hooks off your treble so you just have a single hook. Tie that to your line and go to the water and start turning rocks over very slowly. Look for dragon fly larvae. Best bait in the world 😂! You can also use a stick or a cigarette butt for a bobber.

The space blanket can be used as a heat reflector pushing heat into the fire. Cut a 1ft strip off of it and use sticks to wrap it around by the fire to reflect the heat to you. Would help dry the sand out a bit

I met a guy from Columbia that didn't speak any english & fished next to me with nothing but 2 water bottles, 100 ft of line between both bottles, 2 hooks & used wet bread rolled in sand for weight & bait. He caught quite a few carp that day & we found ways to communicate all day & talked about hunting by hand gestures & drawing pictures in the sand! It was one of my most memorable days in life. He was such a nice guy.

Space blankets are Mylar not aluminum foil. Lol. Typically when using space blankets you put one as the base for the top and put tarp over that cuz it reflects the heat from a fire all around you and you can actually bring the fire into the shelter more to protect it.

That’s what I’m talking about of course a spool of fishing line can be used just the same as a fly reel the milk jug is only good for live bait as a bobber basically next time you do this have them also put a few plain hooks for worms you can grab or dig up or other bugs! Also if you don’t want water in your shelter you want to make sure top edge of tarp folded over the “v” in roof top other than that can’t wait for the next one
