For the circle girl : in the 14th century in Florence, Italy, there was an artist called Giotto. The pope at the time, Benedict XI wanted to commission some paintings and sent out a courtier to find suitable artists who already had considerable reputations. When the courtier arrived at Giotto's studio in Florence he asked Giotto to create something that could convince the pope to commission him. Giotto painted a freehand circle. The courtier thought Giotto was pulling his chain but took the painting back to the pope anyway. The pope was so impressed with the work that he hired Giotto.

yessss! oh this is why we love some liberal arts!! please universe give these children art & music and dance and expression in a million different ways! I love your comment sooo much! I want this is going to get a little dark, I've been really struggling with my mental health after some trauma in January. I found this channel that is art history but in a dark corner. It's called Blind Dweller. I have found some incredible knowledge in there. His research is absolutely impeccable, I can't say enough. Fransisco Goya from Spain, holy moly that thing he painted in his house, how the found it! The one painting of "The Cudgels"something like that, thr faces are so weird, the themes of church, Saturn eating his young, creepy!!!! okay I'm sorry I know I'm like a blood but I never ever get to talk to you another person that would care about these opinions of mine!! I'm so sorry I just find you brilliant and I'm just so very isolated so you have to understand. okay but my last artist before I dip out Felix Nussbaum, the Holocaust painter. Those paintings stole something from me I didn't know I even had. Feelings I've never felt through art. It disturbed me. It should. There's one painting in particular where if you look at the bottom frame, you see the penis/torso of the statue of David, in the sand like a relic. I think what he meant was that for all of our brilliance and intelligence, and we waste it, hating each other into oblivion. So as to say, man is destructive. I don't know if you've seen any of these works but I would really love to hear if you've seen any of these and what your thoughts are on a couple? wildly entertaining for me it's a rural FL town. I'm starving. Thank you so much!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I was in a similar situation as the woman with the bill after dinner. I was at a friend's birthday meal and everyone was like, oh girl you aren't paying for your meal because its you birthday. I agreed. Now, because it was a big party, I went to the bar to get my own drinks and brought them back to the table (with my receipts as proof I already paid for them). After the meals, the check came. A girl I did not know, nor did she speak to me all evening, picked up the check across from her then handed it to me with a smirk. I laughed at her. My friend (the birthday girl) was taken aback by this and said "Kaya, you're not assuming Vikki is paying the whole check or something are you? That was a bit random." Kaya literally just gave that bitchy smirk and side eyed me. So, I looked at the bill and it was £1263.78!! No service charge included (in 2015 in the UK, service charges were not included in bills like they are today). I read all of the items on the check and saw x6 bottles of expensive champaign, other drinks and then our food! There were only 6 girls (including me and my friend the birthday girl). I showed my friend and she literally jaw dropped, stopped breathing. I then called the waitress over and asked if they did separate checks to which she said yes. I asked her if she wrote down who had what thinking it was a stupid question and the waitress smiled. Her and her team (thank God) took everyone's name down with their orders!! I thanked her so much and asked her to please send the appropriate checks to the correct customer and could she share the cost of the birthday girl's stuff to everyone else. The waitress, not kidding, was a superstar! She did this no problem. Everyone got their bills, mine only came to £45 for a three course dinner including shared payment for birthday girl. So I paid and showed the birthday girl my reciepts (including the drinks I got at the bar). All the other girls, one who's come to over £500, screamed like she'd just been stabbed! Kaya, the girl side eyeing me earlier, raged at the birthday girl asking WTF?! Now, the birthday girl is a sweet loving heart on a sleeve type girl. She hates upsetting people and confrontation. She started crying! And I. Was. PISSED! I shouted over all the girls in my authority voice (I have to have one at work) to quiet them down to silence. Other customers stopped what they were doing to watch, no joke. I then proceeded to tell the girls in my psycho quiet voice, "I know your bills are different and some you are paying more. Well, thats simple, you are paying for what YOU ordered, ate and drank plus a share of the birthday girl's bill because we all agreed to share the cost of her meal and drinks because its her birthday. Now, before you start getting angry, I am NOT, and I repeat, am NOT footing your bills! I am not going half with anyone nor am I splitting. If you cannot afford your bill, that's on you. We all only, and ONLY, agreed to share the birthday girl's bill and no one elses. There was a pause, the waitresses looked on with anticipation whilst I started comforting my friend who is STILL crying. I then turned to Kaya and said "You owe Jessie (birthday girl) an apology. How dare you scream and rage at her on her birthday for what YOU ordered!" Kaya was blood red in the face. All the girls were quiet and didn't say a word. But the looks I got, were deadly. I thanked the waitresses for an excellent service and gave them £20 tip each as I knew they'd get nothing from those girls after their bill shock. I then grabbed my sobbing friend (who gladly came with me) and her presents, and left the table and resturant. I put Jessie in my car (I drove as I had work the next day and didn't have alcohol) and took her home. Then, her phone was blowing up!! I told her to turn it off and ignore them. When I pulled up, I walked her in her house and her Dad asked what was wrong wgen he greeted us at the door. So, I told him everything including showing the reciepts (the original bill amount, my reciepts and her bill amount). Jessie was still crying and her brother was comforting her while listening to me. Her Dad was FURIOUS!!! He looked like he was going to have a heart attack looking at the final bill amount! Anyway, he and Jessie thanked me for the ride home and dealing with this bullshit. Her Dad gave me petrol money as he knew their house was 10 miles from theirs. Love him for that. After that, Jessie and I are still friends and the others are no contact. Of course the other girks spread shit about us, Kaya trying to turn in all on me saying I was the one who had the most blar blar blar. Thank God for Iphones! Because I took a photo of every single girl's bill with their name on it before I left!!! I posted it all on Facebook, with all evidence. Lets just say, those girls names were MUD afterwards. Be careful in large parties girls. It does get messy, especially wuth entilted selfish people like that!

I ran in there, and almost peed my pants! He had passed out with his face in the potato salad!When he woke up and couldn’t see, he felt around for his glasses, but they were already on his face! That’s when he started hollering! I told him as I was laughing, and trying not to pee, “Asshole, your glasses are covered in potato salad!” 30 yrs later, and I’m still laughing!!!😂😂😂

My sister was in the ER once and the nurse wanted her to take some oral medicine. She tried to tell the nurse she was nauseated but he wouldn’t listen to her and insisted she take the medicine. She complied and then said she really felt like she was going to throw up then. He told that she would be fine and to try to “breathe through it”… she projectile vomited right in his face. Years ago my doctor wrote me a prescription for an anti-nausea med that was suppository. The pharmacist made a mistake and wrote the instructions as "take one by mouth every 4 hours as needed". I noticed it right away and got a chuckle out of it. Then I saw my chance to prank that pharmacist. I went back a week later, showed him those instructions and in my best hick-drawl I told him, "I took these exactly like you told me to, but I might as well have shoved them up my butt for all the good they did, I still threw up!" He looked horrified, tried to take it out of my hand to "fix" the instructions but I put it back in my purse and took out my phone and opened Facebook. I told him, "Too late! It's been shared." I posted it to a group of funny typos caught in the wild, and it had already gotten several hundred views. I did not post the name and location of the store though. I didn't want him to get in trouble for such a funny mistake.

3 nurses stores all under age 16.. 1. Had a 8 am surgery scheduled, no food since midnight. Delayed, so at 2 pm they make me drink beef broth. Warned them, my Mom had stepped out, so of course when I wake up from surgery, lost it, ALL OVER THE NURSE, on purpose, BTW 2. Hurt my hip, was told not to run by doctor. School nurse and gym teacher decides that I can run, threatens me with paddle. I say, go for it, if you want a law suit. Make them call my Mom. She gives them the riot act. 3. My period started, heavy, went to school, asked her to call my Mom because, I was bleeding so bad. She denied me and sent me to class. I passed out. Principle was getting on my case about not saying anything about feeling bad until I said I went to the nurse. She was fired. Not just for me. She was just an idiot who didn't want to do any work.

Indeed, I've never understood that at all. I suppose if the meal is family style then splitting the food bill is reasonable, but the girl in this video is just as bad as the guys if she thought it was reasonable for the guy that had no drinks to split the bill evenly with them. The drinks were probably the most expensive part.

So generally it's just easier to split because then we don't have to add up the different totals or really think about it at all. We just all put our cards in, and it gets split. But we only do this with really good friends that we eat with all the time. Because it's just an unsaid rule that no one gets anything significantly more expensive, and it all evens out after going out together a few times or so. Or if someone does get something more expensive or something extra, than they make it up by covering the first bar tab when we go out for drinks the next time or something like that.

I always felt a LITTLE bad for my parents when they would go out to dinner with their friends, because my mom was a tiny twig who didn't drink at restaurants, my dad would have MAYBE 2 drinks. Neither ate appetizers or ever had dessert, and they both always ordered modest entrees (my mom sometimes would literally ONLY have a side salad). The other couples would have drinks and apps and steaks and desserts, and the bill was ALWAYS split EQUALLY among all the couples. So after EVERY dinner, my mom (who was ....thrifty to the point of insanity, we'll say.) would be cranky. She enjoyed the dinners, and seeing their friends, but was mad that she and my dad always wound up having to pay at least $100 more than what THEY actually ate. I lost patience after a while, because, if it bothers you SO MUCH, you need to either stop going to these dinners, or speak the hell up. I'm not one to hold my tongue when I'm being taken advantage of, so either DO something, or STOP COMPLAINING TO ME!

If your parents didn't want a confrontation or to keep paying for more than their modest portion, these dinners would have been a good opportunity for them to try new foods. If they were going to pay $100+ for the pleasure of having dinner with friends, they might as well have enjoyed the food, too. And thrifty momma could've brought home leftovers if she couldn't eat more than a side-salad-worth of whatever she ordered (no shade, I used to get full from a side salad, until my doctor put me on a high dose of a steroid for the better part of a year 😬).

@@addyshorhnr3544 Yeah true, it sounds like the case here, but that is not the case in most "split the check" stories I hear online. It's very often a case of each person orders their own dish but for some reason they try to split evenly. Ofc if we order a dish meant for multiple people everyone who eats from it pays evenly, nobody's gonna count how many bites you took. Same for drinks, if we order a bottle and share it among multiple people we split the price, but if you order your own drinks I see no reason why. It's not that hard to keep track of what you drank and pay for it... or maybe it is for some, I don't get drunk in public.

For Charlotte's puking story, I have one. I had a teacher in my last year if elementary school named Mrs. Rose. She looked like Ursela from The Little Mermaid and was mean and rude. So one day. I wasnt feeling well and asked to use the restrokm and she told me no. So my nausea continued to get worse and I felt that 'watering' type feeling that happens right before you vomit, so I go to ask to go to the restroom again and she yelled at me and i just coukdnt hold it anymore and vomited all over her. She sent me to the principal because I 'puked on purpose'. My larents shlwed up and were livid. Ive dealt with IBD my whole life, so most teachers understood that I sometimes would need the restroom more frequently. So the teacher got in huge trouble, especially when the other students told the principal that I had asked multiple times to go to the restroom and was denied every time. From then on out, my parents made sure to i firm all teachers and the principals of my condition complete with documents from my GI doctor so they would understand my IBD and that I wasnt just trying to skip out on classes periodically. My fellow students always looked at me oddly since the principals would always say hello to me when in passinh in the hallways and such.

If a server tells you the bill can't be split, just know most of them are lying because they just don't want to have to deal with ringing in multiple checks. The worse is trying to find your glasses WITHOUT YOUR FUCKING GLASSES!!! Seeing people don't understand the struggle! Once I was lying on a rock on the side of a river and I had put my glasses on my head to enjoy the sun but then they fell in the river. I couldn't see nor feel them around the rock so I figured they had been carried by the current. I was by myself and after trying for an hour to find them I had to walk back to my then boyfriend's house, through the forest, crying because I was 30 km away from my own appartment and wouldn't be able to drive without my glasses. I was able to get to his house, he came with me at the spot where I was and THANK GOD he found my damn glasses between rocks at the bottom.

I've in the past helped make up the differences several times, but later, the more I thought about it the angrier I got & finally said enough was enough & stopped. I don't mind being helpful, but when people that made much more money than myself pulled this stunt continuously I stopped going out with the groups & my wallet is in a better place now. 💯

For the woman that paid the bill for the 3 grown ass man. I’ve been in a situation similar to yours, where I invited a friend for her birthday yet she invited other people. I told the waiter right in front of everyone that we were all going to pay separately and whatever my friend orders is on me. The people that my friend invited said that they wanted to split the bill, I told them “yeah but I invited so-and-so, so I’m going to pay for so-and-so”. (And they ended up choosing the cheapest things on the menu and splitting the bill amongst each other.)

I had a friend in elementary school who experienced that vomiting type of situation in fifth grade. She put her hand up because she had to throw up and was trying to go to the bathroom but the teacher didnt believe her as she asked to go to the bathroom more often than other kids in general. Well, this time she was trying to excuse herself to legitimately go throw up and she was told she couldnt go. Welllllll the only receptacle in the room that she could use was the trashcan by the teachers desk. Karma got the teacher when she ended up running to that trashcan but got karma even more because teach never used a plastic bag or anything inside the trashcan. The trashcan smelled for a few hours despite being washed out. Thankfully it wasnt so bad it wafted to student desks but teacher was gagging for those hours until she finally threw her mini trashcan away in the big trashcan out in the hallway lol Turns out the girl had anxiety issues due to being made fun of and that lead to gas problems, loose stools, and acid reflux and her mom wouldnt give her medication bc she wasnt even 10 yet. I'm still friends with her 25 years later. She overcame her anxiety in middle school when she begged her mom for medication. The gastric issues subsided and today she doesnt even need medication

The dinner bill thing this is my take. I’ve been a bartender/server and managed one restaurant for 5 years. I trained my employees to ALWAYS ask at the BEGINNING of the visit and if it’s going to be one check tonight or separate. Regardless of if it looks like a couple or not and if they say one just say great, we always just ask because it’s easier to separate the bill at the beginning instead of the end. Most groups say one check and we’ll figure it out, or say divide the bill into x amount. This way IMO makes it a less stressful situation in the end, and guests have actually said thank you for asking ahead of time. Now I know some ppl may feel uncomfortable w this, but let me tell you it’s made things so much smother and we’ve never had an issue w parties not paying. Plus if it’s a party of 6 or more a gratuity is always added and this way they also can make that decision for themselves w a split bill.

I feel the need to give you my friend's rant. He was my best friend, but passed away at 27. He was an amazing musician, he wrote at least one song every day, he also had a ton of charisma. He was the life of the party kind of guy. When people would talk about his talent or wish that they had talent like his, he would say the appropriate things, but later he would rant to me about how much he hated that. He would say that there is no such thing as talent. He said it is all hard work. They aren't seeing the hours he practiced at five years old. They are seeing all the times the neighborhood kids (including me) would come around and ask if he wanted to play and he couldn't because he had to practice. It was a lifetime of hours per day that got him to where he was. He felt that everyone that had a "talent" had spent time developing it and that comments like, "you are so talented" or "I wish I had your talent" diminished the sweat and toil and sacrifice it took. She can draw perfect circles because she practiced drawing perfect circles.

No matter how much I practiced, I still can't draw. I tried. No matter how much work I put into it, I still draw like I'm in preschool. I suck at it. I absolutely completely suck. And that's not being sad and hating myself. I am not an artist. I will never be an artist. And that's okay. Some of us are just not going to be artists. No amount of hard work will help some of us get over things. No amount of hard work will make me suddenly understand math. And a more extreme example, no amount of hard work magically turns stairs into a ramp. Hard work doesn't make me suddenly not disabled. It doesn't make me gain what's not there. I do not have a foundation for any of these things. I had to have something to build on. And if you call that talent, sure. But I still can't do things I put literal blood, sweat, and tears into and I cannot change myself to be what I am not. No amount of fighting will suddenly make me an artist. It's been thirty years. All I draw is really bad stick figures.
@tedthurgate
@tedthurgate Жыл бұрын
@@jamie1602 What my friend would say to this is that while you put in the time, you didn't really put in the work. His feeling was that what we called natural talent was really developed even at a very young age. A baby might kick a ball really well and every raves and says he'll be a soccer player and he likes the attention so kicks the ball more than others and develops a bit of skill that is seen as talent. The praise about his talent becomes positive reinforcement for doing it more and next you know he is the VIP in the world cup win. To go further and talk about putting in the time and not the work, goes to how you are spending your time. Take two guys who practice baseball for three hours every day. Every time one of them fields the ball, he is focusing on his footwork, thinking about the transfer and the throw, focusing on what is working well and what could be better. He keeps trying different things some of which are fails and some are improvements. The other guy is getting the ball and throwing it back in and is jealous of the other guy's "talent".
