I hope you like A Dark and Drowning tide. It's sapphic and I think your issue with encyclopedia was the writing style? Alison Saft's writing is very different.

The Old Willis Place was a book first. Middle grade. Mary Downing Hahn writes very creepy stories and she's one of the few authors my non reader dad will read. I'd highly suggest checking out the book if the graphic novel isn't working for you 🩷
