Before I knew this fact, I was just always so impressed with the Obsession stages. They really stand out from other stages. I told my exo-L friend it feels like it’s directed by somebody that knows Exo well or is maybe an Exo fan… it was only very recent that I found out it was Shindong. Amazing work! Shindong’s creativity and understanding of key points in the performance as an idol himself, as well as understanding the unique charms of each member, partnered with the insane professionalism and stage presence of Exo is just 👩‍🍳💋. SM should really utilize Shindong’s talents more!!! All groups would benefit from his work.

EXO create the concept of stage mixes. This was the first of its kind, its an official thing that was made by editors hired by sm to be specifically made this way that's why its in EXO's official channel but you can see both performances separate as well (super junior member Shindong directed it as well btw). EXO creates the trends and the rest follow, btw X-EXO is a real EXO concept & lore of theirs its their "alter ego" or clones however you wish to see it as. They've always been there since the beginning but only showed themselves "physically" during Obsession era (EXO literally had some crazy battles w/their other selves & involved EXO-Ls in the fun 😂) you'd have to dig deep into their lore in order to understand it. They are Exo and X-Exo because of the story line. Exo are the good ones, X-Exo are the red force that took their shapes to fight with Exo. Anyways great stage mix. What is so remarkable about those performances is that Chen was so sick in both of them and still delivered a great show. Everyone of them gave a perfect coreo that helped the editor of the video to create a masterpiece of mix. Thanks guys for your reactions, I appreciated each one of them! :)

The entire concept for Obsession still has me messed up as an EXO-L. It was like you had to choose EXO or X-EXO and they'd get on your case who are you standing with... but X-EXO they look so good OMG. Me being greedy I took both, clothed and nekked. They put a lot of work into those 2 stages and they should be watched individually. The EXO and the 2 X-EXO versions are exceptional. Great reaction.

As per usual with EXO. It's the B sides. In particular on the Obsession Album. They are a group that releases an album not a couple of good songs and fillers. Without MV just the lyric-coded videos hold your attention. Xuimin was in the military with D.O. but i think this was the album he loved the most. Jekyll' Ya ya ya; Groove; Baby you are; Butterfly effect. For EXO-Ls this highlights why they are loved so much

I first got acquainted with K*pop a year ago... I think the difference between K*pop and other music is in the dance. K*pop is famous for its dances. When I got to know K*pop, I first watched the music video and K*pop dance is attractive to me. And the next step was to look at the meaning of that song and if the meaning and dance of that music was good, I would listen to that music... until I met E*xo. For me, E*xo is music without subtitles, which means I don't need to know the meaning. I don't have their lyrics, I just enjoy listening to their beautiful voice and wonderful music. Whenever I want to see K*pop or listen to it, I listen to other groups' music or watch other groups' music videos. But whenever I want to listen to really good music, I only listen to E*XO. E*XO has everything I like and expect from a very good music. E*XO dances very well and skillfully. E*XO has meaningful and beautiful music. E*XO has the best and most important characteristic of a singer group, which is the ability to sing. E*XO has the 8 best singers in K*orea. The 8 best vocalists in the history of K*pop. 8 vocalists and rappers. That means all the members can rap in addition to vocals. The power of the notes and the magical voice of E*XO members is not in any group. When they start singing, I am with myself. I say, are they really normal people? How can they sing so well and powerfully? It's as if they are extraterrestrial with a voice that comes from heaven. E*XO can perform live music in such a way that you scream with excitement and surprise. They sing so strong and well that recently they protested to them not to perform live music so much and not to show off your good voice. In addition to singing, they are actors. They are also very good. In fact, E*XO are the most talented and best singers, actors, dancers, and models in the K*pop and K*drama industry... I admire many groups besides EXO and I like their music, such as Stray Kids, Ateez, seventeen, TXT, TNX, NCT, Black Pink, TWICE, Girls Generation, BTS, and... but E*XO is an unrepeatable legend in the K*pop music industry. This talented group It has the best members, especially the talent of singing, acting, dancing, and modeling. E*XO deserves to be called the king/emperor of K*pop.

The reason why EXO's "Obsession" live "Stage mix" is so clean is because this ISN'T a stage mix, this was "EXO 엑소 'Obsession' (EXO & X-EXO Ver.) @EXO THE STAGE." This is NOT a fanmade video or created by a TV network. This video was professionally created to have transitions like this by a video production company and paid for by SM Entertaiment. (If you notice, this video is on EXO's official KZbin channel, so it's owned by SM.) This video was the first of its kind at the time, and I think it's where the idea for "stage mix" videos got started. The video was created to show EXO, the good guys in all black, battling X-EXO, their alter ego clones in the bright colors with the crazy hair and makeup. They were showing you their story just like you saw it happening in the MV. Notice how parts of the choreography were designed to mirror each other so that they could show how the two versions of the members are battling each other. They performed this full stage twice -- once as EXO and then again as X-EXO -- so other than the transitions between the shots, what you are seeing is all live. Fun fact: Even behind the sense they keep up their characters and storyline. :D . During filming when they interacted with the audience in between the EXO and X-EXO stages they pretended to be EXO during the EXO stage and they were their evil X-EXO alter ego clones during the X-EXO version. For example, they joked with the fans that X-EXO was backstage watching during the EXO stage and they didn't like all the support the fans were giving to EXO. LOL FYI: Everything they are wearing, including their hair color, is the same as what they looked like in their "Obsession" MV. Shindong from Super Junior -- a member of one of SM Entertainment's senior groups -- and his production company were the ones that directed this whole performance and video shoot. (Shindong and his company are also the ones that produce all of SM's @the stage videos for several of SM's other groups and artists.) There are actually 2 other videos that were created as part of this series, one that's @The Stage (EXO ver.) and the other that's @The Stage (X-EXO ver.) and then the footage from both of those videos were combined to create the @The Stage (EXO & X-EXO ver.) All three videos were shot and edited by Shindong's company. EXO's live "Obsession" performance is a live recording of their performance. Therefore, not only is their dancing amazing, but they are also singing live the whole time. It may be hard to believe because their vocals are so stable while performing this intense choreography, but as SM Entertainment artists they have been training their whole career to build endurance and stamina in order to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing in concert for 3+ hours. That is one of the reasons why SM is known as the vocal powerhouse of the industry, because they put a huge emphasis on finding and developing amazing vocalists. Even SM's rappers get intense vocal training -- on top of being impressive rappers, most of SM's rappers could fill in as main vocalists as well. This was just a special performance created as part of EXO's promotions for their "Obsession" MV and album. When Kpop groups release a new song and album they do all different types of promotional activities to keep fans interested and to get people excited in order to drive album and merchandise sales. If you can keep people talking about the song and album and get them excited about all the promotional activities, it's most likely going to make people want to buy the album or purchase the song on streaming sites, so everything a Kpop group does is designed to be a marketing tool to sell more products. And, in case you were wondering, the audience isn't just reacting to the performance. What you heard the audience doing is called fan chants. Fan chants are orchestrated things that fans say during specific moments in live performances. Sometimes fan chants are designed by fandoms and they are distributed through the network of fandoms so that everyone learns them and knows what to do, and other times they are designed by the Kpop group's company and given to the fandoms to distribute and make sure everyone knows the chant. Almost every song that is a main track song that the group promotes will have a specific fan chant that goes with it. So not only will the audience be reciting specific lyrics during the performance, but what you also heard was during the dance break the fans were shouting each of the members' names. Even the moments when the fans scream or cheer are often done at specific times and for an exact length of time as part of the fan chant. And in live recordings, the production crew makes sure the fans are ready to recite the fan chant and they even cue them up -- the fans become part of the performance. You will hear the audience doing the exact same fan chant every time EXO performs "Obsession."
