Mr. Janich does it again in this video. Volume 4 makes it extremely easy for you and your training partner to practice all the speed stops for the various angles of attack. Can't wait for the Stay Safe Media update to counter blade techniques.

Mr. Janich, I read your article "One Size 'Hits' All" in the magazine "Combat Arms" (2011) (specific issue unknown). Although I try to replicate your techniques the best I can from video, your article answered questions I didn't know how to ask. My technique is much better now! I practice your technique empty-hand, with knife, with stick, & with improvised weapons. Keep the videos coming!

Sir im saying this with respect and i have no intention of insulting you or the techniques. I’m a bit sceptic about it because the moves look complicated and risky. My experience in martial arts is not as many years of experience as yours but in the few years of muay thai training i find it impossible to have a fight with someone and not get a beating also. Even an inexperienced person with no training in a ring but with street fighting experience may give a few decent hits that draw attention. So from what I understand in a martial art that is based on knives it seems impossible not to get damaged also and in this case horrible because there’s no room for mistakes. You may answer yes in deed but that’s why we train with repetitive moves. In training though again it’s way different from ring fighting and a lot more different from street fighting or even worse fighting for your life like a war situation . Intentions, target, adrenaline , mind state and many more ,separate things with huge barriers in each case. So to stop talking too much would it be possible to make a video with random people attacking with intention and not hold back? Get a few people from the street give them a training knife and ask them to “kill” you with a reward. $10 000 to the one who makes it for instance. This way it gets a bit closer to a real scenario where the attacker has a real goal and has the will to attack for his personal gain and the defender/counter attacker has the fear of loss. Not his life but a huge amount of money so his adrenaline is also sky high. Im not suggesting this to disprove or mock you because if I didn’t have interest or considered it a scam i would just scroll and skip the video. I’m suggesting it because as a veteran soldier , as a martial arts practitioner and as a bouncer i have some experiences that in my mind conflict with some things i force my self to accept . Thank you for taking the time to read it.

I like your training style and that everything builds on previous skills, but it still stays non leathal (cuts to muscles instead of stabbing or cutting arteries) it seems like a key to this style of knife fighting (and i dont know if you covered this) is immediately transitioning. If you stop at a block, they have time to react and move and twist their weapon into you. However, if you position correctly, you only have to block once and you'll be moving with the proper angle and momentum to finish the fight (inflict a number of serious cuts in rapid succession)

MJ, It's not hard to see and feel that the Yojimbo 2 would shine using these techniques. I can't think of any other knife that packs as much flesh-destroying power in such a small and functional package. The ergonomics are second to none and really inspires confidence. The blade is easily the sharpest I've ever seen and the Wharnie shape makes a functional EDC. Bravo on the design. I really love everything about it.

Just wondering why a stab to the kidney isn't done when the area is exposed after turning the opponent instead of the leg cut.

interesting! it seems this gentleman is taking some pains to make his cuts nonlethal... the bicep, tricep, and quad cuts are all close to, but not cutting arteries. by my own limited understanding of anatomy they should be able to disable without killing. very very nice! of course i'm not saying they would do an attacker any good at all!

That's the danger of a knife for self defense. It would be difficult to defend in court. I'm just saying.
