I spent all my money on crappy project cars, and parts, the rest I just wasted! Why finish one project car when you could just buy another one and dig deeper into into the Project Car Hole!? I've had to get a second shop space, our bunker, and it's already crammed full of half-finished, long forgotten and definitely not roadworthy projects. Here's the whole stable of cars that I've got together, the good, the bad and the rusty. Check 'em all out because we've gotta get them done one way or another. (Ok, the Demon is great but it's been mostly downhill from there!).

Honestly, I'd go with the lowest hanging fruit, probably the olds. A win is a win, and it'll build momentum for the rest. I'd ship off the bmw, do a simple swap on a rx8 and get seat time, leave the S13 in the corner full of desiccant packs and collect parts slowly (or wait for the market to appreciate even more), get the 86 going for some crossover youtube stuff (flex those driving skills), make a master plan on how you want the cuda to really be, and work out the lotus and demon when you are looking for a change.
@branchandfoundry560

Took the words out of my mouth. Momentum is a powerful tool. Knock out the quickest/simplest wins first--even if they're not super sexy--and build from there. EDIT: And yeah, ditch the Beemer. It's s hit pile momentum killer/detractor.

Lots of love being thrown your way about these cars. Since I am much older, and possibly wiser, here is my take. Too many cars that need work to make them drivable. Ditch the 240SX, the Lotus, the BMW, and the Olds. Funny you didn’t even mention your 911 or Firebird. Finish the ‘Cuda and you have a drift car for the street. Revive the Scion and you have an all out race car. You have the Demon to satisfy that old school muscle car itch. In your line of work, which we all love you for, there will always be new projects presenting themselves…….and hardly any of them get finished. Keep up the good work.

Back in '82, when I was 15, I bought a '71 Demon 340/4 speed. It was black with a black interior. $400 bucks!!! I already had a '69 Charger I was working on. My dad got mad at me about something a couple of years later and sold the car to someone for an undisclosed amount and he kept the money. He sold my Charger a couple of years after that and I also had a '69 Charger R/T that was just setting at his place along with a '69 Roadrunner. He sent both of them to the junkyard while I was 1700 miles away at college. He was such a great guy.

Demon and Cutlass - Quick but quality repairs and just enjoy the hell out of them with the family. 328 - You don’t want it, and you want an RX8. Chris Rudnik is trying to thin his fleet, has a really nice RX8 and is ate up with BMWs and drifting…you see where I’m going? Lotus - Very cool car, but I don’t think it’s too rare/valuable to mod. Maybe a K series swap? Cuda - This is the dream car. I think you and the car have enough of a following that companies would step up and sponsor/donate parts. I’d make a list of what you want it to be, start making some phone calls and go from there. It deserves to be a long term project done exactly how you’ve always pictured it. 240 - Throw it in the woods. Scion - Exactly as you said. Basic maintenance, then try whatever wild ideas pop into your head with it. The variety of your fleet is awesome, and Automotive A.D.D. needs an awareness month.

My comments: Cuda - replace the front suspension with some bolt in stuff, quick fix. Finish the interior and wiring and make it the car you are thinking about. BMW - Sell it 240 - part it out and put the good parts in a better donor (of some type) and make a true JDM drift car you love Lotus - spend some quality time to repair the car basically back to stock. Maybe put EFI on it with some good brakes and then drive it Scion - pick a plan and work towards that (hill climb, drift or whatever) Demon - pull the steering box and send it to Firm Feel and get their stage 3 rebuild. Pull the pan and sort that out (probably the rear seal) I'd do the Scion first followed by the Demon, then the Cuda, then the Lotus and then whatever comes from the BMW/240 deal.

Here's my two cents on the list: *Cutlass:* put it back together with what you have and see where it goes. *Cuda:* GET THAT ISH FINISHED. *BMW:* ditch it. *240:* pull the drivetrain, ditch the rustbucket. *Lotus:* get it running, drive it. If you love it, put the SR motor from the 240 into it. Otherwise, get it the hell out of that shop. Crap cars, hard to get parts. *Scion:* DEW IT. *Demon:* get her buttoned up and going!

Love it. My first car was a 72 Cutlass. Had 60k miles on the Rocket 350 w Rochester 2v and Turbo 350. Column shift, bench seat. Promptly trashed the 350 and replaced it with a 403. Ran headers into just enough exhaust pipe to leave the turbo glass packs dumping out directly under the front seats. Shredded lots of Road Huggers with that thing. Ran like a scalded ass ape. ...til I got t-boned by an old carolla or something, full of drunk dudes that ran a light. Cops said they were probably going close to 60. All I have left is a Polaroid of it before I pulled the motor and the parts that were still good. Still makes me sad.

Here's my take, for what it's worth: Move the 240 and that BMW down the road. Finish the Cuda suspension and interior. Needs a dash badly. Love that Cutlass! It does have potential. Sure, get it running, then go for upgrades to the drivetrain. Those Olds motors are not that great. I would go for a stroker smallblock Chevy or an LS. For sure ditch that TH 350 ASAP! They suck balls! But for real. Get it up and running first with what you have. It would be cool. It would also be cool to see that Lotus get up and running. Maybe you will decide it's not for you, but if it's running and driving decently it will be worth a lot more money to some collector if you decide to sell it than what it is now. That's crazy that you hit your head on the roof. You aren't a real big guy either. WOW! I bet it would be a fun car to blast around in though. I would get new wheels for it. Magnesium that is cracking is not something you would want to depend on. Just saying. That FRS is bad ass! There is your drift car that you can take out when you get the urge. Can't get no better than that! Love the Demon! Looks like a few little minor fixes and it's back on the road. Why not go for that? You might need a quick win. There you go! A couple of quick fixes and you are on the road reeking havoc! ;-) Can't wait for the content Man! I have to say, you are one Cat who can drive the tires off of anything! As a guy who’s owned an RX8 for many years I say do it! Butttt, try and stick it out with the renesis for as long as it allows. While it is an unreliable pain in the ass, 9500 rpm is an adrenaline rush even with only 250hp. The platform in stock form is down right impressive, like a street legal go kart. I had a hard time finding the limits at first. The car just does what you ask. But, after the renesis says adios, swap it.

Def. get the Demon fully sorted, seems pretty simple with off-the-shelf parts, then do the same to the 'Cuda, again because it would require minimum Time and $$$.

I owned a 1972 Cutlass back in the late ‘70’s. TBH it’s the only GM product I have ever owned. I need a cruiser after totaling my second built up car sending me into the state pool for insurance (I was under 25). The car was slow (350 auto) but it was good looking and very comfortable to drive.

Those magnesium rims need heat, rather then welding. Brazing is way more stable, as you noticed, magnesium is used in underwater welding rods and a main ingredient in thermite. So at any rate if it catches on fire it won't go out when snuffed of oxygen. But, Brazing uses heat rather then flame, works in place of welding on lots of heat sensitive metals like magnesium, aluminum and like such.

We all got to have our projects, even the ones will never get to. Besides the bone yard under the trees I have a barn full of cars. It's not so much the wasted money in buying. I've never paid much for a car and won't buy new. What bothers me is some of the vehicles I practically gave away in the past. Perhaps none hurts more than the 57 Thunderbird, 64 Lincoln, and 68 Newport conv. 70 Opel GT.😒 And I wish I would have kept at least one of the Falcon rancheros. Two of my vehicles that draw a lot of attention when they're out are the 75 Celica ST Coupe 40 over, ported head, larger valves, cam, offy dual port, with Weber. and the 76 Celica GT lift back with a 383 Stroker. The worst Money Pit I had was a V8 Vega wagon I drag raced. The vehicle that had the most different configurations. 76 Hilux. It started life out as a work truck for my farrier business. Then it was then a street truck with M5015 stuffed under fiberglass fender flares and spoiler like the '70s Vans had. It became a desert racer. and then ran the mud circuit for a few years until there was nothing left of it. Lol ( except the original 20R) which lived on in a 80 4x4. And now in a buggy. Just finished the 43 Willys. It received a new frame, suspension and engine rebuild. Started working on the 61 F150. with its 289 and Granny four speed.

For me, its not about the make and model, its the journey. What each car needs and why. What happens after its fixed. Its like the Cutlass, after its up and running taking it back to the widow so she can see her husbands dream didn't die. The Lotus, your dream come true and what was good and what was the disappointment? The BMW and drifting with you buddies! Its the story that binds!

Man. I grew up in 68-72 Cutlasses. I wish you could still get into a decent one for a reasonable cost. Those days are far too long gone sadly. Please leave it the burbly Olds motor in it. Maybe throw a 3rd pedal in it and make it a fun cruiser.

My favorites out of your cars are Demon, Cuda and Cutlas. Those interest me the most. Cut out the rust on the drivers quarter on the Demon. She deserves better! Lol . I had a new 74 Dart Sport with same split bench interior as yours, but with the 318-3 on the floor. Unfortunately she didn’t have many guts compared to the automatic 318 cars I owned in the 70s. They were pretty quick compared to other post 1971 small blocks I street raced.

Hmmm…choose between working on a rusty 240 or an English Lotus? I think they go to the back of the line! Short putts are the Demon, and to a little lessor degree, the Cuda , bimmer and Cutlass.

I'd probably sell the 240; I don't think you'll ever be able to turn it into a car you're really happy with, at least compared to the rest of your garage. You could probably turn what you get out of it into an RX-8, depending on the market. I might part out the BMW; if the internals are sound, and I think they have that reputation, it would make an interesting swap candidate for the potential RX-8 mentioned above. At any rate, grab the project that grabs you and dive into it, but keep the Demon close by so you can switch to and finish it when the other project starts kicking your teeth in.

@@StayTunedTA Yeah, seems like every car channel has a project trying to find or recreate the car they wish they'd never sold. Must be nice to be on the other side of that coin. Keep up the great work, really I think the ‘68 ‘69 Cutlass S or 442 are thee best looking A bodies of all time. Second is a 69 Buick Skylark with the side skirts on the quarter panels. Number three is the 1970 Chevelle SS 454.
