For anyone thinking it's so easy to realize when you are getting manipulated and to just leave when you start getting abused and that you're weak when all this happens, tell that to all the abuse victims and survivors. Tell them they are stupid and weak and that it's easy. The fact that y'all are complaining more than trying to actually realize what is going on and realize that this is the result of being constantly manipulated for months is ridiculous. John Paul should place hidden cameras and recording devices around the house at his house at this point. He needs hard physical evidence at this point. It's sad and bizarre that no one is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt considering how long some of them have known him. JP is not the wife beating type and never was. His Dad Sally is terrible as far giving him support on this. He should turn torwards Mercedes or of his other sisters that grew up with him then him. They would at least have his back if know one else.

Mercedes has already got cameras rigged all over. She had them installed during the blackmail storyline. She’s just not using them, but I’ve got a feeling that she’ll start recording again to prove what Cher’s been saying and doing and that will probably bring this storyline with John-Paul to the rest of the family’s attention!?!

I really don’t want to comment but can’t help it!!! Come on! How does hollyoaks writers think that this storyline is good to watch!! I mean I know they’re trying to raise awareness towards this serious issues there’re people suffering and that’s a good topic to touch on But this writing is not the right way to show Because this is getting so unrealistic now Let’s ask ourselves, honestly in real life, if George happened, after everything and he hit you twice now, you literally just bleed because he hit you How desperate and weak and vulnerable a person is to still give the abuser another chance!!!! They made John Paul unrealistically stupid with no logic sense at all, just how lonely he is to have to have a boyfriend It’s like if he breaks up with George and he will never find another good guy anymore in this world, There are plenty other good guys out there Jesus...🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The point of storylines raising awareness about domestic abuse and emotionally abusive partners is not to be comfortable and dress it up. After all in real life, this results in destroyed lives and families. Showing audiences to spot the abuse and emotional manipulation is a hard job. I don't like watching JP go through one more rough story arc but this is an important storyline and I'm glad they are doing it. Especially, because domestic abuse against men is a reality but toxic masculinity makes it hard for men to come forward and accept it is happening to them.

But unfortunately they are showing the stark reality of what it is like in a manipulative, abusive relationship. It is so slow and intentional that when you finally realise what has happened, then the victim truly doesn't believe anyone else would put up with them. And I really mean to use the term "put up with" as that is really how they see it. It seems ridiculous but this is reality for so many people.

I was in a relationship like this infact it was worse than this for over 20 years! Unless you’ve personally been in this situation it’s not as easy as you think it is just to walk away. It’s not it’s starts off small a little comment or remark here and there, then they push it a little bit further. They start isolating you, cutting you off from everyone and everything you know. They make you completely dependent on them and they destroy your self confidence and trust until you’re an empty shell. Then they get even worse when they know that they’ve finally got full control over you and they do it in such away that you don’t even know or realize what’s happening to you. I only got free from my ex husband because he left me for dead after he SA and r*p*d me while I was laying there with a fractured skull, bleeding on my brain and blood coming out of everywhere on my head and face as well as other places! He’s now in jail but he not only completely destroyed me but also took everything from me. I had to relearn everything I hadn’t seen or even held money for almost 15 years he took complete control of my bank accounts and all my money! So I’m sorry but this storyline is playing out how it would happen to someone in real life and it needs addressing especially now more than ever due to this pandemic. The % of DV/DA/SA/SA-R victims are the highest thats ever been recorded in every single country around the world because of all the lockdowns or “Stay at Home” orders that we’re under here in LA/California because they’ve got nowhere to go and the victims are trapped in their homes with the people who are harming them! Edit: this storyline has been going on since June of last year. He’s been slowly chipping away at JohnPaul since then. People who know the signs noticed what was happening then.
