But what a fabulous dish is Steak and Ale Pie?? A delicious recipe that comes directly from England.
I could define it as a sort of meat pie, but it would certainly be belittling it because it is so much more!
As the title of this Anglo-Saxon recipe says, it is made from two main components: beef and beer.
Now, I'll tell you, the procedure is not at all difficult. What I strongly recommend, however, is to use good meat and excellent beer.
As for the meat, I chose a part called bell, but you can safely ask your trusted butcher which is the best cut for this recipe.
Since it is a pie, a cake indeed, the scenographic effect is very particular, because the whole is closed by a sheet of shortcrust pastry.
In short, an English recipe so delicious and tasty that you can't not prepare it right away!
Follow my step by step and it will be excellent!
► Ingredients to prepare the steak and ale pie:
Bell beef 600 g
Dark beer 500 g
Onions 200 g
Carrots 200 g
Champignon mushrooms 250 g
Tomato paste 50 g
Flour 00 40 g
2 bay leaves
Butter 40 g
Meat broth to taste
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
For the shortcrust pastry
Flour 00 300
Butter 130 g
Water 75ml
Salt 1 pinch
For the cooking
Eggs 1
