Yan Can Cook is amazing! I love his show as a kid too. The bay area is so small, a few of my friends went to school with Martin Yan's kids. He also makes a lot of appearances at UC Davis, which is where I got to meet him.

Here is what I think. A chef is someone who can take ingredients and make beautiful dishes based off the tastes of the ingredients. A cook is someone who can follow directions extremely well and repeat that dish with those ingredients only.

I grew up with Yan can cook, but there was a Chinese chef in BC with the show called WOK with YAN. His air date was 2years after but just as popular in Canada. His cheezy jokes and popularity was what made me watch him religiously. He taught me how to cook! I am from a Caribbean family but we all watched that show as a family and some of our dinners have a lot of Chinese influence. Check him out!!!

I'm Mexican and we have a dish extremely similar to that called a Torta. It's a toasted bolillo ( baguette) and inside we normally use carnitas but you can put whatever meat you'd like, all sorts of veggies, sauces but most importantly guacamole. It's bomb!

David, I really love all your videos. I seriously mean that. The style and the editing and the content. Just really fantastic. I have really enjoyed the LOL videos recently because I just like how when you talk in between cuts, you're just chilling on the sofa. I don't know, but I just love that. :D And YES! Yan Can Cook is the best! I always loved watching cooking shows, and I never had cable to watch Food Network, so on PBS, his show would come on and I'd love watching it. :)

My roommates and I got into a huge fight in college over the dishwasher. My argument was, "It's a DISHHHH WASHEEERRRR! Not a DISH DRYER!" In the end, they bought a dish rack. Then six months later, they were using the dishwasher the proper way.
