The way you feel is probably the way a lot of 2nd, 3rd and beyond generational kids feel. When you live such a sheltered life, you don’t have that desperation to ask God for help. When you finally seek him is when you will see the miracles that he does for you and you can then say, wooow!!! He really does exist! I grew up in a shamanic household, but I was lucky as a tot, because when I fell asleep I would hit the clouds to spend time with Christ. I never knew who he was until i was old enough to learn about him! By that time, I wasn’t allowed up there anymore. I believe he held me close, because he knew what a shit show my life was going to be! Without him I would have committed suicide a long time ago. Thankfully he placed certain people in my life that were kind to me. When I think back to the horror of that childhood, I noticed all the little nuggets of how he helped. He can’t save us from our destiny, but he can help soften the blow. He knows that we are imperfect beings so that’s why he really urges us to repent and release all of our burdens before we die. You don’t need to be perfect for God to love and accept you. If you want a relationship, you got to put yourself in a quiet place where you can pray and meditate, then you ask questions and allow a blank mental space for him to answer. David, I’m pretty sure you will find him one day. When that time comes, maybe you can be the example that you wanted to see in others.
