Just harvested the last of my giant black Cherokee tomatoes for the season. Texas just got it's first cold front of the year. Making your steak pizziola recipe tonight with New York strips, my tomatoes, some shishito peppers I picked on Monday, a bottle of leftover anniversary Sauvignon Blanc, and a bunch of fresh morels I got on the local mushroom black market. Can't wait! I'm going to bed tonight so fat and happy (and chilly).

Found foodwishes a month ago. Like how well it is edited and presented with a side bar of humor. I did the Steak Pizzaiola on Sunday and got raving reviews. Very very good response from everyone.

Had this for dinner last night. Delicious!! Followed recipe exactly. To pump up the heat I added one jalapeno. Served over a medallion of fresh mozzarella. YuM! Will definately make again. Thanks for the awesome recipe and instruction video!!!

Yes, finally a recipe i've made before myself, although probably not nearly so elegantly. Ah, and yorkshire puddings, ive made those, i nearly forgot. Being from Yorkshire i give you a definite thumbs up CJ, but the test is in the fluffiness and the seasoning. But i'm positive they were absolutely awesome, as was the steak pizziola, although the fluffiness of steak is less of a factor.

You're the boss of your sauce! Might try some broth as a substitute or even water frankly. I think Chef John did a chicken recipe where he just used water to deglaze just to prove the flexibility of the technique.

Just for the record: this must be an Italo-American recipe. In Italy the way we do pizzaiola is to cook some thin steaks in a tomato, oregano and capers sauce (sometimes with anchovies too). I think I would like this version better though, especially since he used such thick steak, which I much prefer, but are not very much used in most parts of Italy.
@gravewine8 жыл бұрын
+ Tiziano de Matteis The way mentioned making this is how I used to eat it growing up with my Italian-American grandmother. She omitted the capers most times though and used a thick cut of meat that she would tenderize and pound flat. It worked well.
@tizianodematteis70718 жыл бұрын
+C Manning I don't doubt it was delicious! Maybe it is some kind of old fashioned way, because as of today I am 100% sure that pizzaiola is not done like that in Italy. Still I think I would prefer this version!

Cossu, look for cheap deals on meats at your local grocer or bulk food store (such as Costco). You can sometimes get whole roasting chickens for $5 and under, which is a few meals for the normal person. The same goes for whole cuts of meat - I can get a whole 9lb pork loin for $20. No need to eat Easy Mac at every meal.
@Fatcaesar12 жыл бұрын
Those must be some sweet tomatoes? in the same category as plum or cherry, othwerwise it would be a tad to much acidity to the sauce i'd guess, just a "hmm" for myself to expand my great cooking, and as allways! Awesome chef :)
