I wasn't really a fan, just remembered 1D's first few songs and how goofy the boys really were. Safe to say I was a Liam girl back then. When I heard the news I couldn't really wrap my head around it. In the last couple of days I was catching up on videos what they are all up to now and how the last years all went for them. It's been over two weeks since his passing and only now watching this performance it really sinks in for me that he is gone. I don't know why I am crying and why I am grieving a person I didn't know, it's not like I was or am a fan. It's just it feels like I lost something from my past/ teenage self I never knew was there. I think that at some point we got used to how perfect his voice is. Niall and Louis improved so much ; Harry naturally shines ; Zayn has always been praised : thus there wasn't place enough for Liam to shine. But the truth is, when you PAY attention to him : his voice is really, like genuinely perfect. I've NEVER heard Liam miss a note. Seriously. It's almost too clean and too perfect. So i'm PROUD that he finally gets the screen time he deserves. yes I felt let down when all the dramas surrounding his album happened (and what he ''said'' about Harry), but I remembered what an angel he actually is, and how truly devoted he is to his fans, and to 1D. This is a live performance, but he sings over a pre-recording to capture all the backing etc. There’s no autotune, otherwise we’d detect a metallic overture, also they would have been able to smooth out the parts were his breath reverbs off the microphone if there was interference with the sound. Nobody realises that Liam is the only one who ACTUALLY misses the band as much as us directioners. Take a look back at their concerts. This has become my favourite performance of ‘steal my girl’ ever. Yes, it’s a shame that the 1D guys are not all singing it, but Liam’s a vocal acrobat who can sing all the ranges from high to low. He had so much love through his smiles when he sang that everyone felt loved, but it’s the self love that he struggled with which gave him the unfortunate end, not just addictions, I never realised how much of a 1D let alone Liam fan I was until this last week even though I always like his solo tracks, may a truly amazing musician RIP, who carried a band and then a whole generation of fans on his back even when the band split. It’s a shame the fans weren’t enough in the end for you Liam RIP ❤
