“Personally I don’t care how much writing goes into an ai generated image im not going to be praised for specifying I want my burger without lettuce. Image editing is a valid form of art and I won’t discount that aspect of the process, but calling ai slop an art is insulting to people who do art for a living because it makes it seem like some trivial thing.anyone can make art, but anyone can also slap some descriptors to some prompt and wipe it down with a towel but at that point it just feels hollow.” -ShadyDoesContent

I think some people don't realize it isn't the AI's fault. It just does what it's meant to do. Seeing how AI works funnily enough, it does HAVE take data AND A LOT in order to even come up with a reply, and I think this process is even harder with AI art. It's meant to be used for entertainment purposes, not at all professional purposes because of course AI lacks creativity and can even be biased if it's not fed enough information. The problem are the people TAKING CREDIT FOR ART THAT WASN'T DRAWN BY THEM... What they basically do is give the AI an image and tell them to copy the art style and then they input how they want the image drawn, they are the real problem.
@cryingwatercolours7 ай бұрын
well… no. when ai first came out, they said it would be a tool for artists, to ease the workload. instead it’s been used to replace them. from the jobs it takes, to the artists it steals from to make images, ai has been given infinite opportunities to be used wrong. and it has. i saw one company, an indie game company. they got their own artists, trained their own ai, made a whole character generator. not only is the artwork ✨high quality ✨ it’s bloody gorgeous and distinct. and used entirely ethically. they are the only case i can think of that had used ai ethically. everywhere else is usually not upfront about their use of it or shady about what the ai is trained on. then you have the people pretending it’s their art. yeah they always sucked.

Ps: you know what i don't see much in ai. chubby or bigger characters so if they are, they are 97% likely not ai.
@DoveJS6 ай бұрын
97% unlikely for now, but the "Adoptable" AI market is becoming super saturated, so it's going to uptick soon by anyone who realizes they need to stand out and to diversify to appeal to a broader range of people. I've seen some cute chubby AI recently on DA (lol and yeah I saved a bunch of it for inspiration too.) The art styles of OCs are going from hyper realism, anime, and Modern Sonic to a broader range of unique furry styles for example. It's a boon for inspiration for sure but I'm kinda sad I might never discover the actual artists they took from. I also wonder if some of these AI accounts have side accounts that they use for positive commenting and buying a few things to make it look more appealing (then perhaps reselling what they bought) but this is based on next to nothing so I could be wrong.

Things the art community needs to learn: - you cant steal an art style. A certain way of drawing things cant be owned. Sorry. - you cant steal color pallettes. You dont own colors. - you cant steal poses. You cant own those either. Stop complaining about theft when it isnt theft. Someone cant steal something you cant own and the art community has forgotten that all artists learn from other artists. This isnt stealing, and i wouldnt consider ai as stealing UNLESS it recreates a piece a real artist drew. Its fine to use ai as a reference. This is coming from a college student studying art. I am an artist. I draw every day. I actively study my passion. And im sick of people whining about theft when it isnt theft.

@@lunarwing12 You can't own an artstyle, I suppose that is correct in a way, but it is still part of an artist identity. It's what makes their art recognizable and identifiable as theirs. Training a ML model on someones art is to specifically have access to their skill and work. Imagine if someone went and prompted really problematic images in an artist's style, just for slander. It doesn't matter that they didn't draw it, people will recognize the style and asociate it with that artist and it will cause harm. Or it will be used to get the image for free instead of commisioning the artist, because why pay if you can get what they can do for no money and less time?

to be fair, wouldn't that just be taking inspiration? AI "art" cannot create original work, because it doesn't have human creativity. All it does is combine the works of other artists to make some weird amalgamation, no creativity or skill involved. Wouldn't taking inspiration from AI be about the same as taking inspiration from another's work? The actual artist is not completely stealing the idea, but they're using using it, along with other ideas, as reference to make something of their own. All artists take inspiration from other artworks, and as long as it isn't a blatant rip-off, that should be fine. I don't mean for this to be rude, but that's my take on it. Just as a note, I HATE AI whenever it's used as a replacement for creativity and hard-work. However, I don't really think it's a problem when it's used as a tool for inspiration.
