The ER finally has new crash carts, but they've been stolen by the nurses in the cardiology ward. Carol (Julianna Margulies) takes Doug, Carter, Lydia, Conni and Bob (George Clooney, Noah Wyle, Ellen Crawford, Conni Marie Brazelton, Malgorzata Gebel) on a mission to get them back.

Yes, appropriating (stealing) back equipment and other items happened regularly where I worked. I’ve gone on stealth raids to get all sorts of things: pillows, flashlights, B/P cuffs, IV pumps, wheelchairs, stretchers, pens, etc. When a unit was closed for low census or there wasn’t enough extra people available to staff it, we were like locusts swarming over the area cleaning out all that we could grab to restock our own unit supplies. One time I had a lookout so that I could ‘borrow’ a new bed for my patient who was in a broken bed (the controls didn’t work and the mattress was so very old and uncomfortable)! All in a days work after all. 🙂

Hahahaha! This makes me think of the event in our hospital called 'The Chase' So Neurotrauma stole our best ventilators and a crash cart. We stole it back but the reason for the moniker 'The Chase' is because the Neurotrauma chief caught us and we started running I stood on one of the vent carts and I used one of my feet to propel myself kind of like I'm on a skateboard just running for it as the guy chased me and didn't catch me hahahaha

My dad had a friend who worked at the hospital that loved pranks. His favorite was when he had to examine a patient's rear or prostate, he would fill a glove with warm water and tie it off and put it in his lab pocket. when it came time to put one hand on the patient's shoulder to begin the exam, he would lay that filled glove on one shoulder, and then lay his hand on the patient's other shoulder.

I worked in an underfunded university. This shit happened all the time. The only thing that beat it was closet space, usually before everyone stole all your stuff for your department after removing the tag that claimed the items were yours.

Eliza crash carts are sealed, usually with something like a yellow zip tie, once they are replenished, whenever you use the cart you break the seal. So, to always have a cart ready to go, you swipe someone else’s vs. waiting for your floor or area to get back from the pharmacy.

This is so true. Where I work, we have every department literally carving their department into every equipment from crash carts, defibs, BP meters, laryngoscopes, bedsheets, hand towels you name it. Because more often than not Gyn/Obs ultrasounds end up in ICU and ER portable X-ray in surgical unit 😂

That's something I'm sorry I learned today about hospitals. Why don't they just budget for all the equipment that every department needs? It's not as though our healthcare system isn't raking in money hand over fist. Cheaping out on lifesaving equipment sounds dangerous as hell.

@@nancymcmonarch It's more of getting equipment mixed up than going cheap without enough. If an equipment is not labeled, it seems like nobody owns it. Everybody likes to have extra because no matter how many you have, it's never enough. Hospital equipment actually cost a quite lot of money. So yes though we have enough, it's not comfortably enough sometimes. So that can happen.
