Some mission are kinda scary, and the collision can penetrare things and some time not, thats why im kinda nervouse of old games
@fogellmclovin3740 Жыл бұрын
its because nowadays developers are more interrested in making the game look intense rather than making it intense. Back then, you were limited in how you wanted the game to look, instead you had to make it feel. Its the same with silent films. Back then you simply could not include sound and dialogue, which is why many old silent movies had some extremely well made shots, and incredible cinematography. Obviously movies with sound still incoorporate these mechanisms that silent movies created, but obviously there will be some movies where the bigger priority relies on the sound rather than the shot.

Really interesting as a German to hear the texts of the German soldiers. The conversations really make sense. From 1:25: "That's ridiculous" - "But it's true, they say that Goll (probably a name) commissioned him to look for a bunker" - "Why is the resistance doing something like that?" - "They're afraid that we'll take all the pretty girls to the Fatherland to refine the master race" - "Crazy... hard to believe" - "Oh, that's nothing, the Norwegians are all crazy". Take the second to appreciate how realistic that silenced weapon is. The only other game I know of that shows a TRUE silenced weapon is Sniper Elite 2 and that's ONLY because the welrod is mechanically designed on purpose to be a single shot. That gun he's using has the slide purposely locked when fired.
@admiralsnackbarkekwalice61672 жыл бұрын

@EagleStryker1 exactly. That wasn’t a welrod lol
@Phucketmcsucket Жыл бұрын
Eh, mechanically the welrod in the game wasn't exactly all that realistic. It was basically a silenced golden gun. One shot anywhere would kill an enemy which needless to say wasn't realistic given its dinky little bullets. There were some other fairly unrealistic elements as well like not being able to reload the M1 Garand unless it was completely empty and it especially got unrealistic when it came to multiplayer where a lot of the combat boiled down to jumping left and right to avoid rifle fire and close quarters fights often consisted of hopping in circles around other players trying to stab each others' feet. Plus there was the jail break game mode in the expansion which to put it simply didn't exactly play as the devs intended.

HLL has a lot of historical details wrong sacrificed for game play though. Tiger tanks on Utah beach, STG44’s at Stalingrad, cosmetic uniform changes that don’t make sense for the battles shown in the game, lack of weapons properly set to resemble their historical counterparts. But the game is still being worked on so it’s not a finished product.
@nateweter40122 жыл бұрын
@@bcarreon6409 I couldn’t agree more. Those are some of the same gripes I have about it. Gewehr 43’s, STG-44’s and ankle boots should NOT be available at Stalingrad. They could easily fix it with some fixes like adding the Gewehr 41 and some extra smgs like the Erma EMP, MP-34 etc to make up for the balance in losing the stg 44 in maps Normandy and prior. The vehicles get me too. Having a Tiger I early production rolling around normandy in Kursk camo, or a Panzer IV G in dark grey really bugged me. They should really add a Tiger I mid, panzer IV H for maps in 44-45. Also a Panther D for Kursk and A late for Normandy. It sounds like you and I are cut from the same cloth. These are changes they could absolutely make and would make a big difference immersion wise.
@randomfaca2 жыл бұрын
While I agree Vanguard went way overboard, I can see why developers wanted to include more different stuff even if it doesn't fit the time line or certain guns are prototypes etc. There's a reason why WW2 shooters got amazingly stale in the mid 2000s and part of it was the same old MP40, Garand etc arsenal we've seen, shot and got shot from time and time again

Nice playthrough! In case you didn't know, you missed some fun at 00:24. 1) Walk over to the window and look down at the two Germans talking. You may see some cool gymnastics! 2) Stand and listen to the Germans playing cards. Poker? No, they're playing Fish! 😄 The guys who made this game put some really funny stuff in there. One of the things I love about MOH.

nice job modelling the interior and outerior of a IX class U-Boat, maybe except the crew compartment on the bow instead of the stern

This game was a part of my life for so long. I've always had this plan of creating my own game which captures the spirit of this game (especially multiplayer). But I never commit to it because it will be a big time investment and I'm unsure whether people would care in the end.

I played "return to the castle WOLFENSTEIN" and is almost the same. The maps are so similiar to each other and also the weapons, the u-boot, the sounds...

Amazing how far we've come visually. Even a mobile game today could be better looking than this. What's interesting is the fact that when I played this game back then, it didn't feel this "dated". I did remember seeing characters/objects being blocky or not even remotely close to real life but that was because in the back of my mind, this was _the_ level that we're at and accepted it. When games start to push the visual fidelity further, it starts to create a new benchmark for future games and subsequently other game devs would try to follow suit.
