Historically the Red Navy used 130mm Destroyer guns equating to roughly 5.1".
@taiko123710 ай бұрын
Well... In 1928 the Red Navy was still mostly using the old Tsarist-designed 102mm (or 4-inch) guns. 130mm guns did exist but they were generally used on cruisers.

FYI Destroyer III and Destroyer IV hulls are the first end-game hulls for DDs. Also if you want to make pitch and roll as low as possible you need to make beam as wide as possible and draught as shallow as possible.

Think the pitch and roll issue is relating to playing the Russians. It simulates the crew being constantly drunk on vodka and torpedo juice.

21:18 no wonder the tower on that ship looks funny on that hull. It's supposed to have one foward 4 inch gun and at least 3 x 18 inch torpedo tubes

Damn, those auto resolves are really messing him over, watching two very powerful fleets fail to kill a single transport was wild.

Considering that at 18:55 it says there's a mounting point forward of the breakwater, i can't help wondering if you could put a torpedo launcher there... And if you CAN, what would happen if you took the 19:06 configuration, moved the secondary tower against the funnel, moved the dual barbette against the tower, and put torpedo launchers fore and aft at the deck-level with the turrets firing over them? Just a crazy idea from someone who doesn't have the game himself...
@taiko123710 ай бұрын
I think the mounting points in question are deceptive.

I love how they have tried to explain Army Logistics as being related to empire size and fleet size .. so if you lack sufficient ships it goes down. But here is France with just 2 ships and 8 subs. And sure Northern France is gone. But they still have that and part of Spain and colonial lands and .. 100% Logistics. I think the logistics calcs in the game are totally fracked up and do NOT work.

Great, now the Germans are at it again, as if things weren't hectic enough. Hopefully the Baltic sub fleet can handle the task of delaying them until newer ships arrives. But at least the war with France is over, that's a bright spot in the episode here, and he got some territory and formidable French battleships out of the negotiations. Good on Stealth for achieving peace that will hopefully pay out in the future.

I find that at long range it helps to put the main guns on save ammo. The extra accuracy is really nice.

A thought just occurred to me after thinking about what has happened in this campaign as far as technology and budget: would a challenge run with only starting technology even be possible? Your ships would all become obsolete but their costs would also stay the same, meaning potentially you can build them in copious quantities later on right? Is it possible to make a ship build that’s still dangerous in large numbers even when vastly outmatched? What do you think?
@Stealth17Gaming10 ай бұрын
Not sure it would be viable. After a decade or two my ships would be slow, poorly armed and poorly armored and unable to potentially even see the enemy.
@DeadlyGrub10 ай бұрын
Given how tech works and how obsoleting things happens it would be impossible (Would need heavy modding and modding this game is hard you don't have access to a lot). The only viable weapon would eventually be torpedo's. And with super short range early torps and the enemy having very long range you would never be able to get a hit. As even a Light crusier could eventually pen even a BB because of shell techs and other things. Not to mention Torpedos.... well you don't really get deck launchers on most of your ships for ages if you start in like 1890/1900. So you would have to start in roughly 1930 or 1920 if you want a chance to make this work.

Is it actually beneficial for pitch to have heavy items far away from the center? It looked to me that pitch got better when you pushed the rear guns further aft, and worse when you moved them to the center again.
