Steam Deck LCD in 2024 - Is it worth it?

Haha the people saying the LCD steam deck is outdated you guys are funny, really people don’t have 800$ to spend on the legion or rog, it’s such a value with the steam deck LCD, it just works, as a dad it’s perfect, stop with all of this who cares most people don’t wanna deal with windows, it’s a major pain in the ass, plus us parents don’t have time to fiddle with crap like that, we just wanna turn it on and play, steam deck LCD and OLED ARE PERFECT but if I were you get a LCD, for a 64GB module there so cheap just to get into it, while I love the OLED the 300$ value is perfect, saving 200$ to 300$ that’s a steal for real, stay safe take care guys 👍

Yeah, for those who value a good machine at a lower price point, you really can't go wrong with the Steam Deck LCD. Getting the 64GB version for the price is definitely a steal!

I have been waiting for a refurbished 64GB LCD to be availble at Steam for a while, but yesterday when I checked Steam they are selling out the 64GB and 512GB version, so I got the 512GB for less than the 64GB used to cost :O That price is half of what the Rog Ally Z1 Extreme cost here.

Worked out perfect for me, lol. I was going to buy oled for my son, but instead bought 2 LCD. I did the same and got 64gb because it'd be cheaper to just get the 512 separately, or upgrade to 1tb for like $20 more, and use the 64 for emulation. It's a win win!

sounds like you are reading a script you might just want to use your own words a small word mixup is less noticible when you are using your own words made up on the spot.

Gamers need to remember, The 1st version of gaming consoles are always the best, Easy to mod, Newer console versions wont ever have the flexability of the 1st version consoles

PS3 Fat 1st Version Backwards Campatible 20gb, 60gb, Some 80gb.....Newer PS3 No Backwards Capatible..... Steam Deck 1st console still good till this day.....Oled screen is just better not faster hardware than LCD

The only major benefit to the higher capacity steam decks is that they have an anti-glare screen while the 64gb does not. Picked up the 512gb during their recent clearance sale. $330 was a crazy deal. I'll eventually update it to a 1tb 2230 nvme.

highly recommend against reading straight off a script dawg the video is helpful but the way youre reading it is really unsettling like i kinda wanted to stop. but i totally get its hard at first. still great potential

I finally caved and bought a steam deck. Got the 512gb version on sale for 330$ thought that was a good deal. Im not much of a tech guy so this is my first dip into "pc gaming" gonna use my steam deck for emulation mainly and some steam games and indies. Cant wait for it to arrive and hopefully it's not too challenging for me lol

screen is not big deal you are upscaling 480p to 900p all lowest setting you wont see any details anyway.

I tend to agree with you, I bought SD LCD 64 GB refurbished, which $100 less in my place, I upgraded the storage with my unused 1TB ssd. Since then I use SD more than my console and could gaming together with my son while on the go. I think for people who are new to Portable pc gaming should just try lcd rather than buy Oled or other portable pc gaming windows based os. Perhaps in the future if valve relase SD v2 or the oled start selling as refurbished I might buy it. For now SD LCD is enough for me.

@@jaredconyers considering what accessories i'll need first, and what i can hold off on getting for an extra fortnight or two. id say a dock, but i don't currently plan on getting say FF XIV, so that might not be as important to get at the moment, skin's well that's not something that's a must get atm.

It's only worth it to someone on a budget. The screen quality is meh to serviceable at best. It becomes more apparent when compared to other handhelds or when playing on an external monitor. Personally, I don't like the positions of the d-pad and analog sticks being in line with the top edge of the screen. It feels awkward when playing like that. For its quirks and shortcomings (all handhelds have them) the LeGo is my handheld of choice. I say that as a former Steam Deck LCD owner. To me, it's the total package, performance, compatibility, the screen is big and amazing,, and it's the most versatile handheld in its price range, even better if one can find an open box at Best Buy in good condition. Windows on a handheld isn't the best experience, but it's much better on the LeGo or other 8'+ handhelds because we can actually see things and have more room to work with on screen. It isn't anywhere near what loser "influencers" are making it out to be. It's Windows. It's familiar to pretty much anyone who has ever used a Windows PC. For those who don't want to deal with anything outside of Steam, just set Steam to automatically boot into Big Picture Mode and it's the nearly the same experience as Steam OS.
