@@gregtoope Upgrades are really no big deal. Heck, i was playing it last night docked and connected to my 4K monitor. Yeah, it's not as powerful as a big bad desktop gaming setup, but for a light gamer like me... It's damned near perfect.

just bought mine yesterday. bought some valve games as well and im enjoying them on my dads pc as i dont have any pc. now im able to play them on my steam deck and my dad can use his pc

Did you get game pass working in the end? As far as I know, the only ways are to install Windows (which is possible but clunky), or to use the cloud streaming version of game pass which means queueing for a place on the server, dealing with latency etc.

I’d really love to get myself one but I’m not very tech savvy- or at least the level of PC gaming and PC software stuff. Admittedly, I’d be aiming to play indie games that are on Steam mostly!

i would do a quick update while on wifi and then you should be good. at least the games ive played. Just got back from a 6 hour plane trip and used it on the plane where i had no wifi.

So my steam deck is brand new and it needs steam os what should i do return it install it idk what to do or how to do it

it should have come with SteamOS already installed on it. Just turn it on.

If it doesn't have SteamOS then there is some problem. Try holding down one of the volume buttons while turning it on (I forgot which one). It will give you a menu and one of the options is for system recovery, i.e. reinstalling SteamOS.

Steam deck is great. Nintendo did start something when making the switch. I love the switch, but still I wanted to play some pc games as well. This is as great as the switch. I might play it as much as I play my switch

we also have a switch, but i play this way more. just like the games that are available for it more than those available for the switch. But thats just personal preference.

it IS a PC. just linux based and designed to run steam games.
