For point 9 you can disable background recording. in your steam library just open the settings in the top left and go down to "Game Recording" and it's literally the first thing in the menu

On obs you can set obs replay buffer it is similar to shadow play (nvidia) or relive (amd) or windows bacground recording

@@ReluctantAnarchist Do you have problems with desktop animations? Unless you choose "Prefer maximum performance" on NVIDIA, animations get choppy after a while on my PC.

Sooo.. That steam recording funktion is the first actually on Linux, that can recor HDR content correctly? but there ist nothing to play ist correctly for now :D ? With Screenshots i am aware, that there is now no Screenshot tool which can take a HDR screenshot correctly. i searched for one. I recorded some gameplay of factorio with the recording functionality and the result was a bit darker. was that maybe also because i have now alsways HDR activated? :D I like HDR, have it enabled and it looks great with compatible games. But i really don't know if factoria at all supports HDR and if it was activated for that game or if it was handled like a sdr Program. it is a linux native game though i didn't start it with the gamescope commandline, which is needed for the non natives to actually get the HDR functionality to the Display.

I don't think hardware encoding works at all on Linux yet, at least not for Nvidia that is. I've noticed a constant load on my CPU with Steam Recording enabled, and no additional processes are using my GPU encoder or any of its available VRAM. Perhaps it's worth checking this out on your own machine as well. It could explain some of the performance issues.

О найс! Надеюсь допилят однажды, потому что хочется чего-то простого как шедоуплей, только на линукс! Перепробовал наверное всё.. Стандартная утилита гном для записи у меня не записывает звук, OBS очень перегружен... да, в нём много настроек, но хотелось бы что-то простое, где можно одной кнопкой запустить запись без предварительно созданных сцен и всего такого. Единственно что сейчас более менее подходит это GPU Screen Recorder. Остальные проги уже не очень запомнились, но перепробовал всё что было на флэтхабе. Невероятно нравятся ролики на этом канале, стиль в видео и на обложках... Только приходится смотреть с мобильного в 480p и то с лагами... Но пока только так. Надеюсь у тебя будет много подписчиков, канал будет развиваться и будут ещё крутые темы! (Английский только на слух понимаю, поэтому коммент оставляю как могу)

It's a truly amazing and convenient feature... when it actually records my audio, that's about a 20% success rate for me.

TBH steam record still adds extra load on my CPU (10-25&) even with GPU encoding or it's just dont work. The best i found besides OBS is "GPU screen recording". No extra load, simple setup, great quality of records/replays

You should note that Steam has around 140 million monthly active users and approximately ~2 billion total accounts created as of now. Users benefit greatly from the features integrated into Steam, not to mention that all the features on Steam are free of charge.

Yeah it's true! That's because recording in foreign language takes a lot of efforts (at least for me) and it's difficult to monitor your own performance during long sessions. It took me 3+ hrs to record my voice for this short 7 min video. Hope this sudden vocal pitch changes don't bother you much!
