I was in riga from 2002-2005. Wow bring out my childhood. People were so happy back then. So much simplicity. Our country has developed so fast. Atleast i have seen transition from very old generation to new one. From running behind these train to get sugarcane, to now working as a developer in one of the biggest company.

Great video of Indian rural life. In 1973, I used to see a narrow gauge training running between Palasa, Naupada and Gunupur in Andhrapradesh, India. In 1974, I saw a sugar mill in my village, Garugubilli, Andhra Pradesh, India. We used to cultivate Sugar, Jute and Rice. We had 2 ox, 2 buffaloes and 1 cow. The ride on ox cart was thrilling. It would be complete, if u had shown the water resource like a tank or pond or a canal for 15 seconds.

Nice video. One fact that can be seen is that steam engines introduced in the 19 th century India , is now just a forgotten relic, of an obsolete technology, But the wretched conditions of the local people still remains the same even in the 21st century. The fact is that the benefits of 'progress', in the country has still not trickled down to the people. Their condition remains the same as was before, wether under the British or Indians themselves. Nothing has changed.

'One fact that can be seen is that steam engines introduced in the 19 th century India , is now just a forgotten relic, of an obsolete technology, ' Guess what, even as late as 2012, China used steam engines in its steel manufacturing. The videos exist on this same channel. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Knives, spears, and axes are all technology used by Humans for the last 10,000 or so years.

Despite your channel it's about steam locomotives, it called my attention the diesel one. Do you know if narrow gauages diesel locos are still made nowadays? Thanks in advance. PD: here in Argentina we have in the province of Entre Ríos an historical train that it was originally steam-propelled but it was reconverted to diesel with an old 30's Bedford truck engine. It might sound crazy or outrageous but there weren't any supplies to fix the old steam engine. But it works well. If you ever come you might want to take a look although trere are other two historical trains that are original mantained located in the Patagonia region.

@@rabindrakumarnayak5382 you mean petrol and diesel cars possibly, as there are no longer any steam locomotives left in India. Possibly less than 10 used sparingly for occasionall heritage runs. UK by the way has many many operational steam locomotive trains running daily, even on their mainline. I've never sat in a steam locomotive train in India but sat twice in the UK in a steam engine train. They're very well maintained. And UK has even built a brand new steam locomotive called the Tornado in 2009-2010. Diesel cars are more polluting.

I makes no difference which way a tank loco is working, it is usual for them to work in either direction. Most industrial lines do not have a turntable and there is no reason to turn them on a Y. The visibility from the footplate is frequently better when the loco is working bunker first. In view of the number of people wandering about the track, this is a good idea.
