I was there today. It was a bit cold, the trains got delayed and not enough room to sit on coaches. For the first part of the day the coaches were very cold. The ice made it all look good though and we enjoyed getting there on the old bus.

It was a challenging day for all the volunteers today and I think they did an amazing job to keep things moving. I was there with 2807 and the loco had only been delivered less than 24 hours before its first departure as the weather delayed the transport from.Devon.

A volunteer was telling me issues they had water getting frozen and the points too. I had a great day and happy with shots I got too.

@@DamiensTrainsandTravels Yes, I saw they had a bit of trouble with the points but I think they all did a fantastic job and it was a very enjoyable day.

Great video Henry. I was thinking of coming today, but due to bad connections making it a long journey,and the cold weather, I didn't make it. Good to see what I missed, sat in the warmth!

Thank you! I did wonder if I'd get there with the problems on the WCML but I'm glad I did as it's so rare to see UK steam in sub zero temperatures.

Thanks, henry; those winter steam-ups produce really impressive clouds coming from all orifices. I noticed in two shots near the beginning, the signals seemed to be set for trains coming in the opposite direction; is there an explanation?
@HenrysAdventures2 күн бұрын
You're welcome! Thank you for watching. I did wonder about the signals. There are working signal boxes at Shackerston and Market Bosworth but I didn't ever see these signals move so it seems they not in use.
@chrisingram9123Күн бұрын
@@HenrysAdventures therefore the signals left off in both directions and the points set in advance.

Looked like a good event, do they always put on bus services from Nuneaton for galas?
@cameronwain12543 күн бұрын
Yes, and a handful of other events too. The bus is free, but the crew is more than welcoming of donations to help them maintain their buses :)

Lovely video, I do love snowy shots. I had completely forgot the battlefield had a gala on but ig I wouldn’t have attended it due to the lack of funding around the railway compared to the locomotives last time I went. Battlefield sits at a 3/10 on my list.

I think they should be done under the trade description act as there was no way it was the Winter Warmer Gala :) I got to Shackerstone before 9 and it was like its own micro climate having travelled from Nottingham where there was no fog and temperatures above freezing. Almost certainly stood at the side of you for some of your videos.
