Steam Locomotive Footplate Ride to Whitby! On the North Yorkshire Moors Railway!

This one was a fun one to shoot - riding on the footplate of a steam locomotive on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering to Grosmont across the North York Moors and then behind a Class 20 diesel to Whitby! I’d had a lot of requests to do a video on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and I knew that when I did do one, I wanted to include the work of its amazing volunteers.
This video includes the volunteer driver and fireman preparing the steam locomotive before collecting the carriages and passengers from Pickering. We then travel on the train enjoying a cab ride through the North York Moors, stopping at Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont, before joining the main rail network to Whitby on the Yorkshire coast.
The route is one of the oldest railway lines in the world, with the Whitby & Pickering Railway initially being set up by George Stephenson in 1836.
