Thanks for clarifying the story of Dracula and Whitby; that Dracula was a fictional character in Bram Stokers’s novel and based on European myth and history. There may be truth in its real history but it is only fictional with regard to Whitby.

Just returned from a trip to Whitby, and this pops up on youtube, Spooky. Very busy for Halloween, plenty of Witches, Ghouls, Goths and even a family of Ghostbusters. Love the old- fashioned museum and its Cabinets of Curiosity. I hope they never modernise it.

I visited this aged 8 or 9 in the mid 1980s. Straight after disembarking on treasure island I found a food coin that wasn’t properly buried. We’d not been told we could start hunting though and the pirate in charge told me off and made me cry

Gutted when it closed, yet another of Scarborough's treasures gone for good and ironic as such pools are becoming popular again now. Delighted and somewhat surprised to see a photo I took featured at 06:58 and I remember being very sad at the time as it was getting pumped out. Thanks very much for yet another brilliant video, I loved watching it. What's your drone? the aerial footage is spot on.

Most enjoyable and VERY well presented. I visited Scarborough on two occasions 1969 and 1971 for conferences in the Spa Ballroom. I'm sorry to say I wasn't aware of its fabulous history, although I did like Scarborough as a seaside town and have fond memories.

You get the first ever tearful accolade from me on YT. Just lovely. The cinematography was stunning and just such a lovely story. It made me feel what we have lost in our childhoods. Forget mobile phones, forget social media , I feel a John Betjeman quote coming on… So well done. Thank you…

Halcyon days, family holidays at Scarborough in the early 1950's, the Hispaniola crew really put heart and soul into the trip and certainly looked the part and got us kids so excited digging in the sand on the island, getting the dreaded black spot stuck on the back of your hand. I note in comments plastic Dubloons, they were definitely metal in the early fifties. Combine the Hispaniola with the naval battle at Peasholm Park, half a day sat on the high wall round the railway station train spotting, great trips inland onto the moors and of course the sandy beach, what more could a boy ask for! In my book not a mobile or lap top that keeps them occupied nowadays.

Wow, that's the first time I hear about that pool. I spent some time there in 1986 and again in 1987 to improve my english. So actually the pool was still open when I was there... what a pity I never went there. I surely would have if I had only known about it. All in all I got so many great memories of my stays in Scarborough. My first kiss actually happend there. And I spent way to much money on South Bay's entertainment locations, especially the ones with the gaming consoles like Double Dragon or Yie ar kungfu (somebody remembers that?).
