+Awesomesauce Network There are a few other sticking points to the Steam Machines as well. One is that Valve is releasing a HUGE 14 of them (WAY TOO MANY if you'd ask me), its physical store section in select GameStop locations are laughably small, AND there is NO ONE there to help out console gamers who are looking to try PC gaming out for the first time (and that is what i heard that these SteamMacines are geared towards). I think there should have been 3 steam machines released, one cheaper option to represent a low-end budget PC, a little more expensive mid-rage option and a way more expensive high end option. Not 14 ranging from $400 o a WHOPPING $5000 for the Falcon Northwest model. 14 is way too many and way too much for a new PC gamer to grasp. Sorry for the wall of text but I had to get those sales problems out there to you. Keep up with the great videos man. I give your channel a 97/100 on the 100-point scale.
@TheXBRGUY9 жыл бұрын
I've been saying it since the Steam Machine was announced...the problem with the Steam Machine's isn't even necessarily the fact that you're buying parts for more than they're worth...the problem is that it tries to blend PC's with Consoles, while conveniently forgetting the MOST IMPORTANT DISTINCTION BETWEEN A PC AND CONSOLE! PC's require research for bang for your buck, console's don't. If the Steam Machine's only had a few variants, or if it all came from the same company, OR if it labeled it's differences to make it easy to understand the differences between the variants, it would be fine. But instead, multiple companies are making them, many, *MANY* variants are coming out, the differences between said variants aren't obvious to the general console market this is being made for. It makes no sense. The point of the Steam Machine was to make PC's compatible with a Console Gamer's life style. But they advertise them like they're selling them to a PC Gamer. P.S. right now there may not be many steam machines, but this is mainly talking about the problems with it in general.

The Angry Little Alchemist What do you mean? Its more powerful it has a good number of the PC games on it. and it has the appearance of a console. What about that doesn't appeal to a console gamer?
@TheXBRGUY9 жыл бұрын
Noah Hounshel 1. It's more powerful, but so is almost every other PC on the market. 2. A lot of cases have a console look. 3. It has a confusing naming system, and a confusing market. There's so many steam machine's with different specs from different companies, you might as well study just a little bit harder and make your own PC.

How much does this one cost and can you dual boot Windows on this and have it pre-installed?
@seanlingham52548 жыл бұрын
I did an approx. calculation. If you were to buy the individual parts for the specs of this thing and put it altogether, you'd spend approx. 770 (about 1045 SGD) dollars USD or so without OS license inclusive (for MS Windows). However, this package comes with one year to three year full warranty including RMA options and in some places, on-site support options (hence, the typical 900+ USD price tag). You'd have to do that individually for parts if you put it together (rag-tag) in any other part of the world. So since you can get MS Windows and put it on this just like any regular computer, i'd say this thing is worth a hell of a lot more than a cheese plate. If anyone is willing to part with one and is willing to sell it for less than it's value (as what many people here seem to be attributing to it), i'd be happy to take it off your hands for 30 dollars USD since that's what a cheese plate approx. costs on Amazon. Please message me if you're doing so. LOL. I'll even pay fully for the shipping to my end.

@AUST1NOfficial9 жыл бұрын
For those of you wondering why Valve chose to use the linux based Steam OS, I think valve wanted to migrate away from Windows because of their whole "touch based Windows 8" move. Linux also gives them more freedom to change what they want about the OS.
@InFAMOUSPS4_199 жыл бұрын
The steam controller has a steep learning curve from what i've noticed. I am now able to play black ops 3 online multiplayer fairly well with it, but to get good with it you need to treat it as if you were playing an iOS/Android platform. what seems to be lacking in this controller though is that the touch pads work but the rest of the controller is not very ergonomically designed to house buttons from a 360 controller. I feel if they put more buttons on the back of the controller it would eliminate the use of the ABXY buttons on the front which would completely improve the gaming experience

I'm surprised how much hate Steam machines are getting from reading comments. It'll also likely benefit Mac users too in the long run as porting teams often do both versions.

Good thing for me that I don't really care whether I'm at a desk or my couch for gaming, because I would be disappointed in the price of this. I have a wish list on Newegg for a PC I will be building soon, $700 for the same specs, but an SSD instead of an HDD, and an R9 380 4GB instead of a GTX 960, going into a Define S case (not crazy small, but not ridiculously big either). Same/better specs for $300 less.
