Steam main piping with saddle tee clamped on didn't leak for years, until recently. Cut out and replaced with Viega Mega Press and ProPress for the win!

Beautiful job. I have been using a harbor freight 120 volt Titanium flux core inverter mig welder to weld on threadolets for repairs and air vents. These things are super lightweight and work well. Very generous of you giving back to the community.

Love me my Steamer Vids! 😎 95+ year old pipe utilizing modern MegaPress technology is the most cost efficient fix in that situation. I also agree that no vents at the end of those main runs are no bueno! Definitely costing the homeowner 💰 by not being there. Probably would pay for themselves over time and make the home more comfortable and heat up quicker! Like you said, You could lead a horse to water……

Nice tour of the steam mains. I’ve seen a lot of 100+ year old one pipes that didn’t have end of main vents work, well enough. I agree they should be added, makes the whole thing more efficient, plus faster heat to further runs👍

Hey Mikey, that's a cool goal, props to you for wanting to help out the needy! 👍Those press fittings are expensive, if you slip up with measurements you can't undo a press fitting, you have to cut it out and start new and it can get costly!

Just think of the time it would have taken to thread that 2”, install 2” couplings, 2” tee, and a 2” union on the 2” header, then make up the copper lateral. It’s a no-brainer 👍👍

Hi Mike just wondering if that pro press is "code" i'm sure it uses some kind of rubber or Viton seal which eventually will leak, especially with the temperature of steam..

How would you add in a steam vent on that main? Would you add in a T before the swing joint at the end or would you weld in a threaded bung on the swing joint? Mine doesn't have one there, but it has one at the end of the dry return before it drops down to being a wet return.

majority of the time boiler installations are more expensive, usually cheaper to run once its all said and done.

Hey Mike are these approved for steam?is there special orings in these fittings?I asked one of my suppliers and said no....need to ask others but I'm sure you did you research first....havent needed to do a repair like this until last weak I bid on a job doing similar repair only difference is its a 6" header so if this is approved I will need to by this press but I still might wound up doing a bolted flange repair
