Steam: Thomas the Tank races Diesel 10 on the Hampshire Alps

After the race Diesel 10 "claggs off" to Alton. Percy and Lord Nelson 850 are also visible. Percy has lost his face.
Due to the use of "the wrong sort of coal" the MHR have been forced to use diesel power on Thomas Tank day. At least 3 steam engines have failed. I rather suspect the Class 37 was borrowed from elsewhere at short notice.
Filmed at Ropley station on the Mid Hants Railway (MHR) during "Thomas the Tank" week August 2009.
Diesel 10 is a Class 37 engine. Thomas is an obscure unknown tank engine.
The MHR line is sometimes called The Hampshire Alps and also the Watercress Line.
Thomas is a tank engine who lives at a big station on the Island of Sodor. He's a cheeky little engine with six small wheels, a short stumpy funnel, a short stumpy boiler and a short stumpy dome. He was created by the Rev. W. V. Awdry.

went on one of these when i was young; loved it! my fave thing,looking back,was thew sign that said "the fat controller's engines are very busy engines, so kindly stay off the lines so you do not obstruct them in the course of their duties". and "diesel 10" only lost because it was being kept to a low speed whilst "thomas" was allowed to go flat out

@KINGANDCASTLE Yes and no! the drivers like to give it the beans coz it sounds nice, but yes, for example, following battery work on it, she ran light engine with 33053 to alresford from ropley, on the return she was making the same amount of noise as with a 6 coach train! its better though, in the summer she could barly haul her own weight!

First off that wrong class of diesel. Diesel 10 actually based on a warship class, best example would be D382 “onslaught” that what he is and if you add claw onto the body work then you have diesel 10.
