All aboard for another steam train filled adventure! I’ve never been to the Monticello Railway Museum, but I heard it is very nice and pleasant to visit. Have you considered going back to the Illinois Railway Museum? Both Frisco 1630 and J. Neils Lumber Co. Shay 5 are back in operating condition.

Nathan Corcoran As of this moment, Union Pacific 2-8-0 No. 428 is undergoing a very slow restoration at this moment.

Robert Kersey yes, it is in restoration. It does said that they are trying to get it operational. I do know Union Pacific 618 at the Heber Valley Railroad is in restoration as well. Along with Great Western 75 and the Heber Valleys switcher locomotive too. There aren't any operating steam engines at the Haber Valley Railroad, but they will in the future. The Illinois Railway Museum does have a lot of steam engines, such as CB&Q 3007, Santa Fe 2903, the Casey Jones locomotive Illinois Central 201, Milwaukee Road 265, Grand Trunk Western Railroad 6323, Tuskegee Railroad 101, Norfolk & Western 2050, and some of steam engines too.

Here’s all it’ll history about the ASVRR ex ATSF 3415 it sat on the park in Abilene for a long time and it was in not the best condition. So the guys that run the ASVRR divided to pull it out of the park and restore it and now it runs like a charm and I just love to go out and watch it run. If you want to know how I know that it’s because I’m a local and I love to see that one of my favorite youth era came and watched it. Keep up the great content!

It is an extremely rare type of locomotive. It is either based off of, or is in fact, a Climax Class A geared steam locomotive. Truly unique. Even for climax, and climax is the rarest of the 3 types of geared steamers.
