My one complaint is that this calculation gives the Aurora Borealis Gambit way too much credit, when it in fact, is a VERY risky move that not only risks the possibility of a checkmate, but literally almost did. "May I see it?" Was a complete blunder on Chalmer's part as it was way too passive of a move in an offense that - if pushed 1 singular move forward - would have been checkmate for Seymour.

Correction: Engine 2.15 "Aurora borealis?" - blunder "Aurora borealis?! At this time of year, at this time of day in this part of the country, localized entirely by your kitchen?" - great move "Yes." - innacuracy "May I see it?" - miss "No." - best move
@Zenyx644 ай бұрын
No, this is false. The Aurora Borealis is an extremely high ELO gambit. Seymour may not have known that he played it, but it is an incredibly forcing move that changes the entire course of the game. There is no defense against it since you'd make a fool out of yourself by claiming it nonsense.

That's not how computer evaluations work. When you play a brilliant move, the evaluation doesn't change compared to last move, because evaluations are based on playing the best moves So going from -2.5 to +0.6 for a brilliant move makes no sense

@@Zenyx64 I don't see how putting numbers that don't make sense is more fun than putting numbers that do make sense. That's all
@Zenyx644 ай бұрын
@@mnm1273 it's more fun because that line in particular is a crazy idea that's completely out there. real life, or a comedy skit for that matter, is not like a chess game. there's so many options that the best usage of an "eval bar" is just to reflect the mood of the current situation. it's the same reason that the eval bar only falls down once Seymour SEES that the oven is on fire. it's a new element that we didn't know of.
