Seymour sits in a chair in the middle of a room, the floor is checkered black and white, there are red velvet curtains framing the room. "SEemOr." "SEemOr." Seymour turns his head to the right. Chalmers stands next to him. "WelL SEemOr, I mADe eET, dEspITe yor DiErecShonS." ..."BuHT, i aHm nOuGHt reeAlLi Hhere." Chalmers pinches his left cheek and rips away his skin to reveal a void of brilliant white light shining out of his skull. He pulls his face back again. He smiles. "SEemOr, wHY Ees dere smOK comiNGg out ov yOr oVVen?" Seymour looks at Chalmers. "I don't understand." "YU mUst exchAnGe." Chalmers holds out his hand, he turns his palm downwards. Seymour looks at him and then to his hand in which is a tiny shovel, he turns his palm downwards, looking up at chalmers as if to get confirmation that he is doing it right. As he turns his palm upwards again the shovel has been replaced by a plate upon which is a hamburger. Chalmers smiles. "Old fAhmilEE Re-siPi." A tiny, quaint house materializes on the top of the brown meat. Seymour looks into the window, a female figure with two fleshy tumors on her cheeks is looking out at him. She waves. The house fades slowly into nothingness again. Chalmers opens his mouth wide, his eyes suddenly wild. He points with a straight arm at the door that now stands to the left and stares unblinkingly at it. "WaHt EEs hAppeNINg eEn deRe?" Seymour looks to the door. A quivering, disconcerting note plays. The camera begins next to Seymour's head and zooms slowly past, in towards the door, where orange light issues from the gaps. The note gets louder as the camera zooms in. "WaHt EEs hAppeNINg eEn deRe?" Seymour gets up from the chair and opens the door. In front of him is a void where giant elemental particles are flung aroung chaotically, colliding with one another in a blazing inferno. A giant sperm-like thing comes shooting out of the inferno and Seymour narrowly gets out of the doorway as it flies through. It smacks wetly into the red curtain on the other side of the room, where a coffin now fades into being. Seymour crosses the room, stepping awkwardly over the motionless sperm-thing on the floor, and opens the lid. He steps into a room with white tiled walls, a single lightbulb flickers with a cold, foreboding blue light. Seymour looks up into the ceiling where a strange nerve-like growth hangs. "Sssssseeeemor, the hhhoussssse issss on fire!" it wheezes. "Yooouuu mussssst assssisssst." Skinner pops out of existence. "Well, Armin, you are an odd fellow, but i must say: You steam a good ham" Armin stares blankly. "Armin? Are you... okay?" Armin stares blankly. "Well, maybe next time i'll invite you for dinner, huh?" Chalmers extends his hand. Armin stares blankly. "Myeeh." Chalmers turns around and walks off, he turns and looks at Armin. Armin stares blankly.

wheedler it's flawed and I don't think it succeeds entirely in what it sets out to do (could have been mitigated by having like two or three other directors handling scripts written by Lynch and Frost) however it was the most consistently interesting thing I've ever seen on television. Was also funny as shit.

See I almost wish the opposite had happened--that Frost was the constant writer and Lynch, at least towards season's end, was more just the director. The few times this season I felt bored by the events happening on screen, the one saving grace was always Lynch's interesting direction, which can make even the most mundane interaction seem alluringly mysterious.
