Steampunk BEER CAN Party Hat! MAD HATTER Crochet Top Hat Tutorial & PATTERN

Yesss! Love how this hat looks on my hubs. Ha! He can wear a Beer Can Hat that's for sure. Finally! A decent mad hatter style top hat tutorial.
I really want to make this again in the super fancy style with a beer can flower. Heh. I think I will at some point.
Meanwhile, I hope you have fun with this design. It would make an excellent St. Patrick's day drinkin hat. If someone doesn't offer to buy it off your head, I will be shocked.

Hey Hi! I haven't really mentioned this in my videos, but...
I always put the most detailed info in the FIRST video of a project series. I don't like to repeat all the details, so later videos will have more brief instructions. Check descriptions for related videos.
I start from the assumption that you know how to crochet. There are just SO so many channels doing a great job of teaching the basics, I figure I will let them. I want to get right to the nitty gritty of the project.
Anything unclear can be slowed down in the video settings, or searched for on YT. And of course I'm happy to answer any specific questions in the comments.
Each crochet tutorial has a written blog version as well, which can sometimes be easier to understand. (usually behind sched but hmu if you have needs)

I'm having a little trouble with this one...from what I can see, the top edge worked as you describe comes out to 102 stitches, while the top only has 90 stitches. I have watched & rewatched the tutorial, even counted the stitches you end up with on the top, but I can't figure out what I'm missing. Please help...

Hmmmm. Well the actual count is 108. That’s 14 per label + 4 per join (x6). The top should be 10 rnds, each increasing except rnd 6. Hope this helps, I need to finish the pattern, that’s where I usually put the counts.

Hi! I'm a beginning crocheter here. Have one wooble stuffed animal and a beanie under my belt. I was at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver last month and ran into a woman who was wearing one of your beer can hats. I asked her about it and she gave me your card and pointed me to your videos. I'm interested in this mad hatter hat mostly because the cans I want to use are the tall boys.
