Woo-hoo this was fun! Never gave anything a rusted metal finish before. Usually, I try to restore pieces like that but, this attempt at steampunk was so fun I hope to do it again. I have also never tried adhering air dry clay to furniture or anything else for that matter but it will not be my last time.
Note: In the end I painted on a polyacrylic topcoat on the entire piece.
