Weirdly this is the most pleasant post hurricane weather we have had to cleanup in (used to live in Louisiana). Doesn’t get sickening hot until 2 ish. Happy for your aunt! Our daughter’s friend lives on Siesta Key (off Midnight Pass the main road) and they said they only lost their fence while with Helene their ground floor got flooded. Direct hits are strange.

Polycrylic is a brand name of the Minwax company. It's polyurethane.
@AskingSpot4 күн бұрын
True however Polyacrylic is a high-molecular-weight composite of acryl and polyacrylamide, usually derived from a polyacrylamide gel. Generally speaking Polyacrylic is always water based Polyurethane is either water or oil based but more often thought of as oil based.

Beautiful job Margie. I am sure the customer is over the moon with all rhe pieces. The only other thing I can think of to do in getting extremely heavy loaded up paint and rust, is take it for a chemical acid dip. It probably costs a bit, but you sanity and knuckles are well worth it. Question, are you buying another water blaster?

Seal it with wax free shellac,. Adding a second coat of stain will only activate the first coat of stain. Shellac then wait 20 minutes, varnish.

Well researched and thoughtful. Other reviewers just slap it on willy-nilly. Critical to know that it only works for laquer or shellac when applied directly, and that any polyurethane-finished piece would still have to be sanded.

is there a shade you can use for anything? at 20 to 30 a pop I would hate to spend hundreds vs use only a middle do all shade.
@AskingSpotАй бұрын
@@Jack-Surreal_Panes it’s been my experience that it is pretty forgiving. Only caution would be to not use a darker tone on a light piece. Mid ranges are very reliant on the stain already on your piece. If you got the lightest tint for a really dark piece it might not be as successful. Short version: if you have a wide range of pieces to work on get the lightest tint and a mid tint.

We refinished the table top on a 1920's dining room table and used a polyurethane spray for the finish. Now several years later, there are small patches of film on top that need to be removed. I did the q-tip test, and it passed the test so restore-a-finish could be used. But removing the film buildup is my dilemma - any suggestions? Thanks for your time!
@AskingSpotАй бұрын
Whoa this is a tricky one. I really can’t say for sure not being able to see it. If you used a poly there shouldn’t be anything on your cotton/alcohol test which would mean Restore A Finish wouldn’t work. But you said you did get something so that makes me wonder…could a wax have been placed on top? That film could come off with mineral spirits perhaps?! (Test in an inconspicuous spot first) Here’s the thing, if I’m understanding this correctly, removing the wax would still leave the poly and that couldn’t be repaired with RAF…but just removing the wax buildup might be all you need. Sorry, I’m not much help. You might try your local hardware store to see if someone there would be able to answer your questions better.
