SteamPunk Mixed Media Assemblage Collage- "We're All Mad Here"
Please join me as I share how I created this Steampunkish, "Through the Looking Glass"" inspired Mixed Media Assemblage Collage. I used the contents of my junk drawer, happy mail embellishments, assorted bits and bobs , original artwork by Linda Sunshine and LOTS of glue and paint. Love your work... I’m worried about the hot glue...I have had bad luck with hot glue as an adhesive.. I have lost pieces I loved that de-laminated because the hot glue failed after time. E6000 never failed and good old fashioned white glue seems to hold up well too. I love your presentation and your work. Thank you

LOVING THIS AND SO INSPIRED TO USE UP STUFF AROUND HERE IN THIS ART FORM.... Thank you, Cali!!! Cant wait for my time off to start on it. That is saying something as I just got my gelli plate made and might have to spend some time with it as well. Busy making stencils with plastic folders and stencil cutter also... learning curve with that is hand training for speed and pressure. ..... WOW... Hope you used good ventilation with E6000 as it is a known carcinogen... gloves and good ventilation. Usually you are cautioning with that kind of stuff so I waited to hear it through the whole video ... maybe you didn't know. Would hate for you to suffer with any trouble from not using good ventilation. I will look at the collage of your work ... but I suspect it is a lot like picking a favorite child when you love all your kids with a passion that surpasses the heat of a thousand suns. .... cannot be done. HUGS PEACE AND LOVE sent your way. This is so beautiful and awesomely inspiring. My favorite saying currently is "A Little Weird Is Good". (not mainline Alice in wonderland to be sure, I know.) "We are all doing the best we can with the wisdom, knowledge and experience we have at the time." I love that line also. It inspires kindness and tolerance and love for self and others. It lacks the storytelling fantasy of Alice's adventure to be sure, but it does ring of truth. We ARE all a little Mad here. Yes, I knew about the mercury affecting Hat Makers. I love your videos, girl! More love and peace and angels also sent, Cali. OOOooo I have the prefect art box .. it was my mothers oil paint box. I love it when it means something also. Or I could us that to house the alcohol inks I made with sharpies, and grab a drawer from the roadside ... free! Gotta run.. Peace and love sent. Thanks for lifting my spirits today!

Can I ask, what is the purpose of the cheesecloth, and then the cardboard? Is it that it provides a rougher base than would just painted wood, or is it a sort of psychological process thing, where even though it will (probably) get covered up by the end, seeing it gets you into the headspace for the rest of the design?
