5:48 was that 3254 we just saw pass by? if it was then why is it numbered 1271 and its tender lettered Lackawanna instead of having the Canadian national logo

When Steam town first moved to Scranton they repainted locomotives and other equipment "Lackawanna" because they were based at the Lackawanna headquarters. Later, when they moved to the old DL&W yards they corrected their mistakes. See the same locomotive in my 1989 video. It is correct

@@babyhars93 oh I first thought it was another Canadian national steam locomotive I never heard of but knew it was 3254 thanks for the info and I hope a decade or 2 from now she'll be steaming again on steamtown property

@@babyhars93 wow I was right thanks I just hope in the next decade or 2 from now I hope steamtown restores 3254 to service again after there done restoring 3713 and 2317 which still hasn't started nearly a decade after it was pulled from service and is because of baldwin 26 and 3713 but if we have faith both 3254 and 2317 will be back in operational service in no time

@@babyhars93 when everything was painted in lackawanna colors it was still steamtown USA. When it became a national historic site they had to paint everything back to correct historical colors.

In another decade 26 will be down again for another rebuild.

Even if 3254s rebuild goes well it would cost almost 3 million dollars to restore it. Frame needs partial replacement and boiler is shot completely. It would take a miracle for 3254 to be restored.

You got 3.8 million dollars for a replacement of the WHOLE firebo, frame portions, boiler firebox braces, all new superheater units, tubes, tube sheets, throttle valve, air compressor, water pump, feed water heater, driving wheel inspection, and running gear riggings for brake and spring. I found out she does NOT need a new boiler. But she needs replacement of everything inside of it. Sorry about the confusion

That’s 1987 footage. 3254 was on Gettysburg RR trackage in 1986.

@@babyhars93 3254 was at Gettysburg from 1982-86 i think. Traded for 1278 in 1987. IMHO that was a costly mistake. 1278 should have stayed for the Carbondale trips along w sister 1246 and 1293. 1098 would have been god for bar bondage also. They should have got rid of the big boy, the IC 2-8-0, and the EJ Lavino tank and that 4-6-0 from NKP. That’s my opinion. Oh and also the 2929

She was disguised as Lackawanna 1271 for some time until she was renumbered back to 3254.
