Thank you for a wonderful representation of Rock Mill and it’s history. The very first fundraiser after the Fairfield County Parks were gifted the park by the Stepletons was held on the covered bridge by the local Girl Scout Troop #2616 after Dave Fey came and spoke to the troop. The 4th graders were so excited they held the fundraiser to try to see it restored, selling soft drinks, water, and baked goods to people passing by. That Saturday divers were diving the pool for practice and pulling up bowling balls and bicycles, which drew a small crowd. The troop went on to participate in other activities to raise funds including the “Rock Mill Rallies” held in 2004-2007. Now all those girls are grown, many with their own families. Our family lived down the road on Rockmill and later Alspach (pronounced Alls-Paw, by the way) and we have spent many hours swimming in the pool at the falls and “creeking” down the river (before it became an official park). We live out of state now but we all have such fond memories of Rock Mill and our hours volunteering with the parks.
