When I make jjigae, I first cook the bacon in the same pot I'm making the stew, so the fond on the bottom flavors everything. Then I fry up my vegies in the bacon fat, and will add the sesame oil later on in the cooking process. So easy, so delicious. I have a weakness for fish cakes/balls, so I LOAD UP usually. Got some really mid kimchi from H-mart a few weeks ago and it's slowly been getting better in my fridge but just isn't that spicy (I can fix that), probably going to make this tonight.!

Also the tofu should always be added last. Def need some fresh garlic and a little gochujang Steebee needs to refine his technique. Being nearly a 50yo Korean that just learned how to make kimchi jiggae is criminal 😂

The more the fermented the kimchi, the better! Cooking pork belly in the pot and addin in the ingredients gives more meaty flavor to the dish. The more you let it boil the more intense the flavor get so dont be afraid to add more water. If its a little blend, just let it boil a little longer! Great vid!

Use chicken broth instead of water. Mix in about half a tablespoon of gochujang and add a couple tablespoons of butter to the pot of kimchi. Let boil for 30 minutes or until desired tenderness. Also you can add furikake over the rice. Bon appetit.

This is sick! I'm going to cook this for myself and cook it for my family. Adding a little bacon is on point..refined pork broths are flavor bombs. Super healthy, delicious, rustic, old school. Thank you Steve! You need to do more of these.. there's nothing better then children of mothers of a cultural food that cooked for them their whole life -- you know things about her food and korean food that we won't know and can all learn from us as non-korean enthusiast of Korean food/cooking. Do more!!

Steebee, I know you said you don't read many comments which is pretty understandable, and this is bold of me, but it would be awesome if you did an episode that talks all about UFOs and aliens, maybe with a guest. I saw that you have some interest in that subject and own a book about it and stuff. It seemed like Bobby really hates it lol. I think both of you are great. I watch lots of your content and UFO stuff as well, and it occurred to me I've never seen you talk about the subject in long form. Just an idea but I bet you have enough going on as it is✌️

Hey Steebee, you should use granulated dried garlic instead of garlic powder. It's a much more intense flavour like fresh garlic, but there is no need to worry about it going off.
