After years & years of playing SMB1 and SMB2, you know how refreshing it is to see retextured stages? For me, it was a completely new experience, yet it felt familiar... But on the other hand, having space stages in regular Advanced just doesn't feel right. Especially with the Arctic song instead of what it used to be. And for the controlls? They wheren't such a big deal, tbh. For me, at least. Anyway, great work & keep up the good content!
@SteebThe7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man! My biggest issue with the retextures is Serial Jump in mechanical world, but it's all right. I took on this antagonistic tone, but it's good.

5:51 The point that you made there is only valid for the Xbox 360. The original Xbox does not have this problem. I'm not too sure about PS2/PS3, but I imagine that it would not have that problem. The reason behind the Xbox 360 having this problem is due to how Backwards Compatibility was handled. Because only certain games were given the ability to be backwards compatible, games like Deluxe and Psychonauts are perfectly fine on Xbox Original, but when played on Xbox 360 the game often has graphic bugs. Also Spiral Bridge in the Whale skin is one of the coolest looking levels, same with Arthropod in the SMB1 Space skin.
@SteebThe7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for clarifying. I only made it somewhat clear that I only played the 360 version during the controller bit. I'll give Spiral Bridge to ya, but I think Space Arthropod looks somewhat stiff. Muh Serial Jump is for space or water, completely.
@LeoYoshi543217 жыл бұрын
So actually I just realised that you didn't mention Pistons in the Bubbly Washing Machine skin. A mechanical like stage with unnatural movements in a skin that has the design of natural flowing movement and looks fucking horrible in a Green and Teal world other than the ugly Browns in the Clock Tower skin which made it look like it was actual mechanism in the Clock Tower. Also Spatial Temporal (AD70) is the best Deluxe Stage because it uses Momentum combined with speed and careful use of gravity in a way not seen in (from what I've seen) none of the other levels. It's unique and a nice way to finish off Advanced.
@SteebThe7 жыл бұрын
How did I miss Pistons in Bubbly Washing Machine skin? That's the actual best example of what I was looking for. I instinctively get the green or red goal in 8 rings, so I almost never see it! Spatial Temporal _is_ a good stage, isn't it. I agree.

From what I've experienced the PS2 version doesn't play at a smooth 60 fps like the original, lacks the wobbly sound when you're rolling, and have longer loading times. I've played it with a friend and every time the game had to load a new level or the player model it freezed for about 4/5 seconds with no music. It's not unplayable by any means, but makes you miss the GC originals. And yeah, no controller can beat the accuracy of a GC joystick.
@SteebThe7 жыл бұрын
I don't know that kinda sounds unplayable to me, especially in comparison to GCN

We did manage to get past Beginner and Advanced level packs on PS2 without much sweat (with some exceptions). Of course Expert levels are another beast entirely and with those it could get pretty messy. Didn't try them out on that port yet.

Not only does it not run at a smooth 60fps, it doesn’t run at 60 FPS period. It runs at 30 FPS. Ew.

MY GUY I need help. I love Monkey Ball , and have been playing it since my early childhood. I loved SMB2 and when i found Deluxe, i was stoked. In all the time i’ve had it i’ve only managed to gain one extra life for challenge mode, and that was just by beating Story mode. I gotta get those extra lives, but i’ve researched everywhere with no luck. How did you get all the lives, how does anyone?
@SteebThe6 жыл бұрын
Do Beginner Challenge Mode a bunch, then when you improve, do advance Challenge mode a bunch.
@violetroze80926 жыл бұрын
Steeb you sure that’ll get me anywhere? I did all of beginner and beginner extra and i have like nothing to show for it. Does doing the same challenge mode difficulty net you more lives the more you do it?
@SteebThe6 жыл бұрын
I don't remember how the system works, really. A quick google search didn't get much. I think the better you do the more play points you get. If it's taking too long, consider using like a flash drive to import a save file with 99 lives.

It can be accessed by going to Screen Settings in Options. This is also a feature in SMB2. It actually lets you see more of the left and right sides of the screens, which can be helpful.

@SteebThe4 жыл бұрын
PlayStation 2 Monkey Ball Deluxe is upnlayable due to loading screens. I don't prefer the Dualshock, because I didn't grow up with it. No 8-notches really hurts. I didn't forget, because I didn't own a PlayStation 2 until two weeks ago.
@Anko33424 жыл бұрын
Then allow me to cut through those words uwu The playstation 2's controls are tight as briefs that got one too many washing cycle. Turning on narrow paths is unprecise and EXTREMELY painful for your thumb and your knuckle and makes for a pain harder than having punched a child too many times. In levels like Exam-C and Master 19, it makes for a painful experience that is both frustrating and excruciatingly hurtful. Don't play it on PS2 for the love of bagels, just get the Gamecube versions or the Xbox version if you don't mind the notch-less joysticks.
