I've been accused of being crazy for saying it only takes a minute to disconnect the handbrake cables from the rear calipers (a very large plier works well, just having huge leverage so you don't need to use much hand strength and can focus on puzzling the aglet out) . I've seen several photos where people had ripped the welded end stop under the driveshaft tunnel that holds the top end of the cables... well I never want to do that. After you remove the cables from the calipers it's dead easy to pull the lever up high enough to remove the console.

I ended up taking one seat out and turning the center console sideways to remove it. That's relatively easy with lightweight racing seats. I'm always updating my install checklists in anticipation of doing more work on this car (or my 2000 GT), so I will add a note about disconnecting the parking brake cables. Thanks!

Why did you choose a plastic over a bronze or aluminum bushing?

I've been very impressed with the performance of the Delrin suspension bushings I've used. I wanted to try/test something new when I upgraded the shifter bushing.

Just swap to mgw shifter its the best shifter for our cars and others

I've been very happy with the Steeda Tri-Ax shifter. I'm going to use a different shifter on my 2.3L Mustang project car in order to test a part I haven't used before. The MGW shifter is one of the shifters I'm considering.

I loved my tri ax. After about 20 years it actually broke. I replaced it with a pro 5.0 and it's notchy and I occasionally miss shifts. I'll probably try an MGW next

No way that trans crossmember is stiffer than the factory one. Yeah, the mount changed, but its a flat piece of metal.

It's a relatively thick piece of metal. If I have any issues with any of the parts in this video, I will make sure to let people know.
