The Proper Way To Run Wheel Spacers on Your Mustang!

I ran stock wheels with spacers for a good while before picking a set of aftermarket wheels. Definitely recommend going with aftermarket wheels without spacers if you can fit it in your budget. Riding with spacers on normal roads around me definitely added harshness to my ride. At first I thought it was my other suspension parts I had installed but after removing the spacers and replacing my stock wheels with aftermarket wheels, my ride quality improved so much. I was running 25mm spacers in the front and 23mm in the rear.

25mm spacers fits perfectly on my 2024 s650 18’’ oem wheels. And they look nice and flush with fender too.

I can agree on the adapters. I had 2-piece adapters on a 1/2 ton Silverado back in the day. About 10 miles from home the left front adapter sheared the bolts off and I lost the wheel at 60mph.

Probably your truck is too heavy for wheel spacers application

Think it's worth noting that S550 and 650 Mustangs with Magnaride have different wheel stud lengths on the front and the back. If you're going to run a spacer on the front watch for the stud length vs the pocket relief on the back of the stock wheel. ;)

I recently had bad luck with some cheap bolt on wheel spacers. They had cheap soft metal nuts that held it to the factory studs, they rounded off when I used an impact or breaker bar when I tried to remove them. Since they were recessed into the spacers, I ended up having to buy new rotors and wheel bearings to get them off. Let’s just say I wasn’t happy with the previous owners for installing them

Rule of thumb is that if you are using just spacers DON'T go past 1/8-1/4 inch with 5 full revolutions and you'll be fine. Depending on my wheel setup, I have 2 sets of hubcentrics 3/4 & 1 inch and 1/8 & 1/4 for just spacers for every type of scenario. Don't forget to buy your hub rings for your standard spacers or your aftermarket wheels to prevent doing damage to your hub!

@steedaautosports can I run your bolt on spacers as slip ons? By removing the additional studs. Obviously with extended studs in this scenario

I'm contemplating about installing a set of 20mm billet rear hub centric spacers on my 18 mustang. I've heard that after installation, I may encounter wheel bearing problems? What is your opinion? Your feedback will be appreciated.

25 mm spacers did not fit my 2024 Mustang GT with 19" wheels. The OEM studs hit the back of the wheels. Two ways to check, slide a piece of paper between the back of the wheel and spacer, or take your wheel off and check for indentations on the back of the wheel. Only the shade tree mechanic, would just grind the studs down
