Unlike someone that disliked this game intensely earlier today, I will say I find this simulator fascinating. My only disappointment is that you don't have others with you. I get a feeling of you being out on some deserted isle all by yourself. Just seems desolate and lonely. Only game I have seen you play that gives me that experience.

I used to play some old version of Steel Beasts, it has only Abrams and Leopard fully controlable + other tanks, apcs and infantry partially controlable. It was fun game and had editor which was great.

I did criticize you for not bringing the whole platoon forward but the AI seems to suck on bridges and the enemy seemingly appear from the sand itself was just pure madness and chaos. Whew.

DemonAMVs No, this is not why. This is not the military version, but the one adapted for the civilian market. The reason for the high price is that this is a very niched simulator, and the developers want to make sure that only those who are really interrested in such an extremely detailed armor sim, rather than a more action oriented game, will buy it. If you don't think it's worth the price, then you're just not interrested enough in hardcore armor simulators to be part of the target audience for this.

when you lose your laser, can you just hit battlesight which should put in preset range, or input your range estimate?

@2:29, I don't know the exact reason but this is what I think. The arms require hydraulic pressure to operate which is provided by the pump. If there is no other prime mover for pump other than the engine, then the engine must not be at its full strength while the arms are operating. To move a tank from standstill, you need a lot of torque for which the engine must run at the optimum RPM which is why the arm operations must cease completely before you can move. And yes, you just read a mechanical nerd's comment.

separates the games from the sims. i used to play this many years ago and a buddy of mine, who did his TC training for the Leopard II on some similar software like this (before steel beasts actually existed) attested the realism. far superior to any game available at the time. you best play it from the TC's position and tell your crew what to do (mark targets, choose ammo and let your driver do the "dance" while shooting and reloading). benefit: you won't get your AI TC slewing your gun, which the Leo's TC can actually do irl. (I belive the M1A2 with the CITV can also do that)
