I grew up in Rochester, and remember when B&M ran the spur to Davidson Rubber in Farmington. We lived beside the NHN tracks near Milton, which is now a siding for extra tank cars and aggregates cars. Now they have a satellite facility in Rochester and run shuttles from Ossipee to Rochester. This facility also houses Eastern Propane and NHN delivers up to 8-12 liquified propane cars there.. I’ve also seen gondolas and steel, but haven’t figured out where they get delivered to.

Now they also use a pair of GP38’s,, and run shuttles to an Ossipee Aggregates satellite station in Rochester, this location also holds an Eastern Propane facility and NHN delivers liquified propane there.. a few miles farther up the line, near the Milton border, is a torn out spur that went to the old Spaulding Fiber building.. now it’s a siding to hold extra tank cars or aggregates cars

I would like to see the tracks between the Conway Scenic and the New Hampshire North Cost brought back to service so the conway scenic could do excursions and interchanges over the right of way. Plus, it would be easier for the conway scenic to have connections to the outside world through the conway branch rather than having to go through croferd notch.

Fantastic! I live in Dover NH and woundered how they started up. Would be a good team to work for.

New Hampshire North cost No. 1757 was unfortunately scrapped in the spring of 2022. It's prime mover and other key components were used in the restoration of Boston and Maine railroad f unit No. 4268. The locomotive currently operates on the Conway scenic railroad with another B&M f unit No. 4266.

At around the 16:39 mark I seem to know exactly who that Guilford Railroad dispatcher, Gary, is that spoke to Leroy here in this video! (Last time I met him, in Orange, MA, he mentioned that he is now retired, serving part time as a train crew taxi driver.)

All the railroads are dying, trucks are slowly taking over. It was great while it lasted.

The NHN pit is good for at least another 8 years. Boston Sand and Gravel, who owns Ossipee Aggregrets may move up to Madison, here there are other pits available. The tracks from Ossippe to Madison would have to be rebuilt. BS*G will never have a fleet of trucks delivering gravel to downtown Boston, next to North Station.

With self driving trucks hitting the highways ..swift and knight are taking delivery of unmanned trucks that will work in convoys of 7....as a former conductor of Illinois central of 21 years and now a otr driver....it's safe to say the trucker is endangered and the railways won't make it to the next decade....

@@fhowlandprobably because that’s all the quarry will have left to haul out, they’ll need to find another one

@@rickledges4412you’d need 200 trucks if not more with all the construction
