@sea_kerman5 жыл бұрын
It is, actually. I did testing. The problem with the swords was that they had very few surface layers. What the hexagons do is stop the shell from collapsing. Most of the strength comes from the surface layers. If those swords were printed with more outside layers, they wouldn't have snapped as easily.
@Kevrik5 жыл бұрын
@@sea_kerman There are a lot of problems with the sword in terms of printing and while the shells are one I would say an equal culprit to why they came apart so easily is because of the way its layered, the layers are clearly printed going up the blade ( you wouldn't get the hex pattern he shows otherwise) which means when the blades strike each other ( or even just swung hard through the air) the force is going to try and separate the layers which by the looks of the break this is exactly what happens, while thicker shells can strengthen this flaw in printing it is better to print in a direction such that the force cannot be applied this way, in this case printing such that the layers run parallel to the length of the blade rather than perpendicular. Also the Hex pattern itself is a problem of this the pattern is designed for caring about compression only and the infil is crazy low for a piece that long, for something that is going under these forces you want a larger infill and ideally if the printer can handle it more complex infill patterns that can handle 3d stresses.

Fun fact, there's a whole school of swordsmanship that centers on the "berserker wild overswing" with a katana specifically, called Jigen-ryu. Obviously it's got more form to it than just "wild overswing", but the principle of strong overhead cuts is more or less the same. In the 1860s, a lot of users of this style fought on the Emperor's side during the Meiji Restoration, and the things their opponents say about their style are fascinating. Probably the most interesting is from Kondo Isami, who said that their overhead strike must always be dodged, never blocked, or you risk having the guard of your own sword driven into your head. It's rather interesting how Japanese swordsmanship styles maximize the efficacy of the katana as a weapon.

I've been watching Jazza for YEARS and have been avidly watching Shadverity for MONTHS. I CAN'T COMPREHEND. WHAT IS THIS TWIST OF FATE?! The things that threw me off: I knew Jazza was Australian, but I thought Shad was British. ANd they present themselves SO differently!! Also, I feel like Jazza is the older brother because he acts like a choch, but I also think Shad could be the older because he has self-control and restraint and "and instinct to keep Jazza from breaking my things" XD
