Freiermuth extension and evaluating the other Steelers tight ends

Joe flies solo on this edition of the Steel City Underground Podcast to address recent rumors that the Pittsburgh Steelers may extend tight end Pat Freiermuth this offseason.

He's not a good blocker and he's hurt all the time. He's had like three or four concussions already.

Hurt all the time? He's not the blocking TE, man. Washington is. But Freiermuth does block. You want Heyward & Washington as the only choices in an Art Smith offense? You're crazy

Steelers have no money invested in offense. After guys play their rookie contract they let them go. They don't want to resign our rb. They don't want to sign our best oline guy. It's pathetic and cheap don't kid yourself. Least payed offense in the nfl.

Least paid due to everyone on rookie contracts. They ponied up with for Daniels and Seumalo. Don't forget, Big Ben, AB and Bell were all highly paid, as were Pouncey and DeCastro. Rookies supplanted those players as they moved on and thus the bulk of spending appears to be on the defense because they have more veterans. - Joe

@Steelcityunderground they let Bell and brown go because they wanted more money let's not forget. They just told our best lineman he's not getting a contract and passed on Harris 5th round option. It's not because everyone is on a rookie contract. Center wr and te all could of been upgraded. He'll wr should of been two good guys brung in.

You are aware that the regular season doesn't start for several months still, yet you are calling the team cheap and pathetic for moves that they have yet to make. What happens if they end up being the least paid offense in the NFL but perform the best out of all the teams? Would you still be complaining then? Give it a break until at least the regular season starts.
