Just got mine.....after a huge disappointment on my SD1970 with a misaligned bezel.....this SD1940 restored my faith with Steeldive. It is probably the cheapest but also one of my favourite watch beside my Gshocks! Absolutely recommended. I probably will buy few more as gifts to others or keep them as my daily beaters!
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
Yes, great no-frills watch, and perfect as a beater...if it can hold up to the task. Did you get the leather strap, or bracelet? Bummer about your SD1970 experience.
@Jikaninja3 жыл бұрын
I got it with the bracelet....the bracelet quality is actually pretty good, it is an oyster style, not the same I saw on many ppl’s version which usually a jubilee style...And also and solid endlink and female endlink as well.
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
@@Jikaninja I bought a couple on the 5 link engineer bracelet and flipped them. Decent quality and good looks. It was a much better setup than this leather strap!

If people are trying to decide between the Addiesdive and the Steeldive versions of this watch, note that there is variation within and between these two labels. Same factory evidently. Each can show variations in handsets and typeface of numerals (inspect 4, 6, and 9). None is a one-to-one match to any specific IWC in all details, if that's the goal.
@WatchWitt Жыл бұрын
Yes, just the overall feel of that classic, but at budget friendly price. I think they’ve tweaked this model a little since this video, too. SD tends to make a few changes here and there and not say anything, or rebrand as v2, etc.

I got a SteelDiver mid-February Green dial real nice, took 3 links out Perfect. Then I noticed the Crown would not Screw down to the case. Thinking I’m not diving or water activities, wanted to keep it, tho that stem don’t screwing down BUGGED 🐞ME !! So I sent it back for a replacement, got the replacement today 22-10-3. I’m so glad I reorder, love the watch 😍 Fits good ! Budget watch collector Timex, Casio, Chinese, & yes 🇺🇦 Bostoc/Vastoc 🇺🇦 Anacortes, Wa.

Quite like the different logos for diferent watch styles. Pretty nicely done watch though apart from the strap.
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
Me too! But all three of their logos have “diver” in the title, and this is a pilot watch. 🤷🏻♂️ But 99% of their watches are divers...and the name of the company is SteelDIVE. So, makes sense! The strap. Yes, that’s why I always want the bracelet if given an option. Easier to choose your own quality of replacement straps.

For a Chinese brand I think they are spot on with their logo's, I love Steeldive and what they are doing

Yes, everything seems to be well proportioned. Some don’t like their logo, though. They definitely make it easy to NOT snub Chinese watch brands! Great quality for the money!

I'm overjoyed with mine. I chose the steel bracelet and the sunburst blue dial. Ít keeps time really well. My only criticism is that the handset is not always easy to read in the dark: the lume is great but, because the hands are nearly the same width as the hour markers, it's sometimes hard to distinguish between the hour and the minute hand.
@WatchWitt2 жыл бұрын
The bracelet ones are harder to find! Or at least directly from STEELDIVE. Yes, great watch, especially for the price. Great criticism of the lume/handset…I didn’t experience that during my time with the watch. Lume is definitely bright on this one!

Yes, it’s a pretty decent watch, especially for the price. I handled the stainless steel bracelet version and THAT’s a much better package. But like you did, and aftermarket strap is probably the best option.

Looks good for the pricing, enjoy the style and the movement is solid also. I really enjoy Steeldives quality but I have been told San Martin is a step above again. Great unboxing buddy.

Many think that they are the same company, but I do not. I think they just source many of the same parts, etc. I haven’t had an Addiesdive stainless steel watch in yet, so I can’t compare them. But many say the value is similar.

i have a bronze version of those, what can I say, a great inexpensive everyday watch. what I appreciate, they have no-logo version, I just like to have a clean dial, and that Is the luxury that Chinese manufacturers provide. once I changed the strap for the nylon zulu strap with bronze buckles, they look much better. not really like a thick back case cover, because the watch sits quite high on a hand, but I can excuse that for that price.
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
Do you have the bronze version with the different markers and lume than this one? I remember seeing that and it looked pretty nice. Great value for this watch as well, but it’s a waste to receive this leather strap. I’d rather have the watch on the bracelet and buy my own leather band.

Hi! Congrats on your channel! I really like the reviews. Is there a way of removing those tags without cutting the string. Don't mind my OCD. ;)
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words! No way to remove the string without cutting on this particular buckle. I mean, you could pull it apart at the white plastic connector, but it would be damaged. If it’s on a bracelet, you can just remove the pin from the micro adjust and slide it off, though!

@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t checked out a San Martin yet, but those who know say the quality level is better than STEELDIVE...worth the additional cost. While this pilot watch doesn’t “pop” quite as well as my SD1970 from them, it does feature some great looks and value for the money. Good build.

Now that you’ve had it awhile how is the accuracy?
@WatchWitt Жыл бұрын
I sold this one shortly after filming the video. But it's standard NH35 accuracy...stated at -20/+40 seconds per day. I've been lucky in that most of my NH series movements are generally better than -10/+10 spd. Every now and then you get one on the edge of tolerance...

What about waterproof test?
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
I don't have the equipment for waterproof testing. But I have a STEELDIVE SD1970 that is rated at 200m which I have worn snorkeling with no issues. This watch has the same WR rating, and features a screwdown crown and caseback, so I would expect it to perform the same. Most field or pilot's watches don't offer this high of a water resistance rating. Bargain.
@stefbacum44543 жыл бұрын
I got this a year ago and I take it to the beach regularly. I make sure the crown is screwed in good and I swimm with it no problem. I always wear it on a nato and it's great. A bit tall tho, but other than that, dimensions are spot on. It's a great watch for the money.
@WatchWitt3 жыл бұрын
Yes, comforting to have a FIELD watch with 200m of WR, right?!
@stefbacum44543 жыл бұрын
@@WatchWitt sure is. I don't have to worry that I don't have one of my G shocks on if I feel the need to go to the beach (as I live 5 min away from it). Just throw on the swimming trunks, grab a towel and go. I tend to mostly wear watches with good WR also because I don't want to care about washing my hands and taking it off, and also because I work in a dusty environment and if water can't get in, neither can dust. I also take the 1940 ar work and had no issues. And having the bracelet, It can be dressed up a bit too although I don't really like metal bracelets. I do have some with poor WR but those I wear mostly when I know for sure I m not going to the beach or during winter.
